what is a 15-22 Performance center ?

Hey Guys I went out to my local Cabelas today to buy my first 15-22 and the only one they had in stock was a 15-22 Performance Center and they were asking $699 and it only had a 10 round magazine !

So whats the main difference between the MOE & the Performance center ? anyone own a performance center is it worth the money ?

I own both. Frankly, so far I haven't been able to get my PC to shoot as well as my MOE. I've free-floated the PC's barrel, put in a RRA FCG, and haven't had a chance to shoot it since. However, if I knew then what I've experienced so far, save your money and buy the MOE, IMHO.

Sorry, I didn't actually answer your question about the differences. The PC has got a slightly longer, slightly bigger fluted "match" barrel with a "Laney" chamber with no flash hider. You are not to shoot CCI Stingers through this gun as the Stinger is a bit longer and doesn't fit correctly in the match chamber. It has a Hogue style pistol grip and a Vltrol butt stock.(adj.) It comes with ladder inserts. It has a (LOL) 2 stage 7lb "match" trigger, and standard sights. 10 rnd mag.
Is it worth the extra money? So far, not in my opinion but that may change. But to buy a "match" gun that isn't so far that much better???

I don't know. My MOE shoots great with just some simple trigger mods and groups just as tight so far as my PC.

The PC has a laney match chamber, and a fluted barrel (someone please correct me if im wrong but i dont think the MOE has a fluted barrel) and an RRA 2 stage match trigger.

Ive personally havent shot the MOE but i have a PC and ive shot my buddies upgraded A1 quite a few times also, and u can really feel the difference in the two. Not saying the A1 was is bad bcuz its still AWESOME

if you want a high performance match rifle, this doesn't really seem like the platform. I personally think it is a little pointless, and I'm suprised they thought there was a large enough market for this that they decided to product them. The 15-22 is a nice intro rifle for anyone of all walks of gun knowledge to anyone that wants a pinker or ar15 style. But it is not a match rifle.

Where did you come by the info that the PC has a RRA 2 stage trigger? I've contacted Rock River and talked to a customer service guy who seemed quite knowledgeable and he knew nothing of this. You'd think with a small company like RRA, they'd know if a major manufacturer is using their parts. I'm not saying that the FCG isn't made by RRA but I can't get anyone to confirm or deny. I will say that a side by side comparison of the PC stock FCG and the RRA N.M. FCG seems to look exactly the same.
I haven't been able to get any range time in the last couple of weeks

and I've made some changes in my PC's FCG and took the end-cap off the the rails as it was touching the barrel and it's too thin to open up the hole. I'm hoping that the darn gun shoots better than it has been because right now I'm holding a $600+ toy that isn't living up to my expectations. I didn't expect it to be a true match rifle but geez S&W, so far I'm very un-impressed. The gun has functioned flawlessly with different ammos but if you can't hit what your aiming at, so what.

My MOE works wonderfully, has a great trigger, and is a hoot to shoot.

Gee, maybe they'll(S&W) will retire this line also and then I'll own 2 pieces of collectible stuff.

I it heard from a guy that had a PC also, he said that Smith had told him. Really a hit or miss? Once i got mine zeroed its been nothing but quarter sized groups from 50 yards all day.

I finally received a response from S&W just a couple of minutes ago confirming the PC has the RRA FCG in it. So....now my 15-22P has a RRA FCG also.

Well what about the stage 2 trigger in the PC ? thats 100 dollar upgrade right there , and I found a dealer that would sell me a PC for $620 AND he wants $575 for a MOE .

So is it better to buy the PC ? since it already has the stage 2 trigger and a houge grip ? or are the MOE grip and sights good to use ? or do yall guys use scopes and red dots ? . I cant make up my mind

Frankly, the MOE'S trigger can be cleaned up, new J-P springs, and a overtravel screw, and is very crisp. All for about $11. I weighed my PC's trigger and it broke at, hang on, at 7#!!! Sure it was smooth but man, that's heavy even for a service rifle, IIRC. I'm going to try to get to the range in the next couple of days and try out the mods. I've made to the PC. BTW, I put a set of J-P springs on the RRA and it greatly improved the feel of the trigger. Time will tell. BTW, I didn't use the over-travel set screw on the 2 stage as it states on the instructions for the RRA FCG not to. It's going to be interesting. I promise to post pics of the targets using different ammo in both the MOE and the PC.
