Not true. Somewhere along the line I recommended M-22 to you.

I never cease to be amazed at folks who will spend hundreds of dollars on accessories for their 15-22 and quibble over $20-$30 to find the most accurate ammo for said rifle.
I have never considered any money spent on ammo to be wasted. I have two other .22 LR rifles and four .22 pistols - if my 15-22 doesn't like something I have tried, I have six other firearms to shoot it in.
FWIW, I never have considered 100 rounds sufficient to do accuracy and function testing.

I think where you shoot is also a big factor... if I had property where I could shoot off my back porch, I probably wouldn't care which ammo was the most accurate - I'd be plinking all day off bulk ammo and having fun! But, unfortunately that's not the case for me - I have to drive to a range (although it's a very nice one) and shoot paper targets... and that's where the accuracy matters to me, leading to the CCI Tactical vs. M-22 shootout!
I just added a Ruger SR22 handgun to my inventory to fire those rounds my 15-22 doesn't like... the SR22 is supposed to chew through anything - guess I'll find out!

Mine seems to have no particular favorite. It even devours my leftover Remington Thunderbolts.
A match gun it's not, but it's a great plinker and doesn't do half bad on plates. And it's simplest semi-auto to strip I have.

I have to disagree with you. 100 rounds will tell me if my rifle 1 will feed it, 2 if it will eject fine, and 3 if it fires on the first trigger pull. From my experience if I have issues in the first 100 rounds I have problems with the next 100 and so on. If I don't then problems are not common enough to worry about (like fed bulk with has FTF about 1 a box).
Accuracy for me does take more though but then again I am not looking to knock the wings off of flies at 1000 yards. As long as I can splatter a paint ball from 25 yards with a reasonable amount of success I am happy.
$20 is about a 4th of what I spent on accessorizing my 15-22. Just a straight 4x scope (to see those small targets with my bad eyes), rail covers, hogue grip (the stock grip hit my ring finger right on the joint) and a foregrip.
I guess you can say I quibble but I would rather have 571 rounds extra of what I know shoot in all my 22s just fine than take a gamble on something that may not preform well in the 15-22 in order to get my groups from 1 inch to .9 inch. That is 571 rounds more fun for me anyway.

To each his own. Since I spend about $600-$700 a year for .22 LR (I just bought 10.5K last month), spending $20-$30 to try a brick of something else isn't much of a deal. As for quantity, I rarely shoot less than 250 rounds of a new ammo before making a decision on it, unless it is really bad from the start. I guess this comes from testing ammo for my carry pistols - my standard is 500 rounds without a bobble. Of course, that's really not the issue for my .22s, but old habits die hard.
As for accuracy, it depends on the firearm's purpose. On my match pistols I expect 50 rounds in the 10-ring on a standard 25 yard slow fire target, with more than fifty percent in the X-ring - this from a machine rest. Same sort of accuracy from my match-barreled Ruger 77/22. On my plinkers, I'm generally happy with Minute of Soda Can at 50 yards.
I am happy with anything under 3 MOA with the 15-22.

For what it's worth, my 15-22 absolutely loves this stuff so I buy it every time I find it on sale. Currently have @3500 rounds in dry boxes. Great stuff!

Good feedback. Saw this today and was wondering the forum's opinion.
Looks like it will be part of the next stockup purchase.

If you run out of ammo, you aren't buying enough at one time.

M22 hasn't impressed me in the 15/22. Its reliability is closer to cheap promo loads than it is to premium ammo. The brand I compare all others to is CCI. The M22 is only about a penny per round cheaper than CCI mini mags.
M22 runs better in my M&P22 pistol, so I can at least shoot up what I have on hand.

I have finished off my first box of M-22 today and it worked fine. There are others that are cheaper depending on what works well in your M&P 15-22. I have a stock for Federal bulk that has preformed well.
Give the M-22 a try and if it works for you great. It seems to be just fine for my rifle.
Good luck.

winchester m22 ammo
hello, last week i bought a smith and wesson m&p 15-22 in the perforfance center version. i have 2 boxes of agulia interceptor coming from cabelas, but in my haste to shoot i bought a brick of the winchester m22's at walmart based on the description on the box. i got home, did a web search, found you guys and was not overwhelmed with the reveiws. next day we went out and the ammo was a complete dissapointment. averaged 5 jams and misfires per mag. luckily i have a little henry repeater that eats anything so it won't go to waste, but it won't go back in the ar either. i joined so i could share my experience with others, hope it helps someone to make a better decision and save the $$. jim.

Went back to Winchester X that comes in the red 100 round slider boxes for the following match and the 15-22 was again flawless.....so I found ammo that works perfectly in my 15-22.
This is it, but this isn't the cheapest price out there:
Academy - Winchester Super-X® Lead Round-Nose .22 Long Rifle 40-Grain Rifle/Handgun Ammunition
I eventually went out and bought 5000 rounds of it I liked it so much!!!
At some point I'll try the M-22 ammo again in my 15-22, just won't do it at the Tactical .22 match.

I picked up some M22 a few days ago.
Runs no better or worse than the Fed Bulk in my 15-22 with minute of the 6" gong @ 40 yds no problem.
Also, ran 100% in my Walther P22 that to this date (7 yrs and 10,000 rds) has never had a single issue with any ammo other than the to be expect dud.
I will buy this again...along with bulk CCI mini mags and Federal.

Yep... What wOady said... I can't say it enough either... after all 22 ammo is cheap compared to any other ammo.
