Magpul MOE Stock sloppy...fix?
Just wondering if everyone who has a moe stock on theirs, has had a good bit of play between the integral buffer tube and the MOE stock? Other Magpul stocks I have had, had the friction locks on them but don't have one to test now.
What did you guys do, leave it, fix it somehow, or replace it?
For those who replaced it did you find a better fit with another product?
I have the FDE MOE 15-22 version.

I have the MOE stock on mine and yes it did have the wobble, which annoyed the hell out of me...
Of course the forum had the answer
The solution to most of life's problems......Duct tape.
I removed the stock and placed on the top of the buffer tube a small strip of duct tape....others have used a strip of sticky velcro or electrical tape.
I found that a strip of duct tape, on the top of the buffer tube made the stock completely wobble free...and is a very cheap and easy fix. It gets a bit tight getting it back on, but it makes for a very sturdy fix and doesn't effect the adjustment of the stock.
Give it a go
PS
I have since changed the colour from silver to black and have not gone down the sides of the buffer tube and it still works the same....and i've eaten all the PEZ

Thanks! I really appreciate the response. If i had to get a new stock to fix it it would have made buying the MOE version kind of pointless... I will go pick some black duct tape up from Walmart tonight, thanks again!

Before you warp it in duck tape take a look at this.
It is a little strip of velcro the fuzzy side or half.
I got a pack that was self sticking & cut a strip I think it was about 4'' stuck it in the stock instead of on the buffer tube.
It is just me but I do not like what the duck tape leaves on anything & this has been in place over a year.

Your welcome , I also picked it up from a poster here.
It was a cheep fix plus I still had almost the whole package of velcro left. I was toying with getting one of those stocks that lock in place now I am happy as can be with the stock stock

I got the velcro and duct tape just in case but decided to start with the velcro first. This is the industrial strength velcro from Walmart, and you can find it right in with all the fabrics
I cut one of the strips in half and originally placed it on the left side of the buffer thinking I would do one on each side... mistake 1. It was very vert tight and brute force was used to slide the stock back on, basically immovable. So I eventually got the stock back off peeled it up which was thankfully very hard but once I got an edge up I used pliers and it came up with no residue left behind. I then placed a new half strip in the center near the rear of the tube and used small scissors to give it a very short haircut. Did a little test fitting and got it working pretty well. It is a little stiff but not to bad. I barely ever adjust it anyway but at least now it is rock solid. When my kids are old enough to start shooting I can still pretty easily adjust it for them and it is nice and tight.
So all in all I am really happy and thanks guys for the help, spending $5 vs $60 was great and same end result!
Update: I took a knife and really pretty much scalped the velcro and it moves a lot more freely now. Since I positioned it so far back the back three positions lock up nice and tight and the front 3 positions have just a slight hint of wobble but still 5x better than before. I like where I placed the velcro because even with the stock fully extended you still can't see it

The 15-22 stock is milspec which I believe is slightly smaller in dia. than
a commercial stock. I have two 15-22 with milspec MOE stocks, 1st one is the standard stock and it has just a little wobble in it but hardly noticeable, the second stock is the MOE CTR which is lockable and that fits nice and tight when locked down.
I was very surprised when I went to get the MOE stocks to find out that they were milspec stocks.

The velcro resides in my wife's craft cupboard and i would need more than a 15-22 to assault that space, it's more heavily guarded than Area 51. The duct tape was in the garage...i put it on as a temp fix and it's still there a year later...stock glides freely but no wobble at all....if it ain't broke don't fix it

The black duck tap looks like a good idea. I may try that on mine.

Any one know where in the UK I can find one of those neat little buttstock fit / remove hooks???
I don't like the look of the cheap Chinese ones on UK Bay and everywhere I have looked doesn't stock them.
US Bay????? cant find but doesn't mean they not there, might be searching with wrong key words perhaps????
Thanks in advance for any and all
Rob

My Colt LE6920MP-B came with a MOE stock so I replaced it with the CTR carbine stock. Now there is no play in the fitment of the stock/tube.
