Default Performance Center

What is the verdict on this one? I know Hobbie and a couple others bought em... I think Hobbie said he thought it performed about the same as the standard model but I haven't read a great deal beyond that.

If you own a PC.... what are your thoughts?

Default PC

Well, I've tinkered with the PC and try as I might, it doesn't seem to have any advantage over my MOE. It functions perfectly but at 50 yards doesn't hold as tight a group(shooting off a rest, shooting 10 times, switching between the PC and the MOE to keep the barrels happy)as my MOE.
The initial 2 stage "match Rock River Arms" trigger broke at 7LBS!
The RRA 2-stage FCG is a good product but 7Lbs?? I used the J-P 3.5lb springs and got it down to about 4lbs. Fairly crisp but my MOE FCG is better. BTW, I don't use the allen screw fix on the the 2 stage as per J-P's instructions.
I'm going to trade it for a MP15 Sport. Time to step up to the next level. I can load my own rounds thank goodness

Hobie

Hobie and I have been going through this for awhile now, I personally think its the best tact22 ive shoot. Though i havent gotten to shot the MOE ive shot the standard and it shoots alot better IMO. I was able to get good groups (15 rnds.) about the size at of a quarter at 60-65 yards (guessing). Also with the 7lbs trigger pull mine has lightened up a bit after about 2000 rounds, I like wheres its at. But Chattanooga thats my input on it i hope it helps you out.

Unfortunately I haven't had my PC on a rest or done anything to carefully gauge its accuracy, but it's been a flawless performer (with the exception of CCI Tactical AR ammo, which it doesn't like as much) and a lot of fun to shoot. That statement can pretty much be said about all of the variants of the 15-22 from what I've read.

I haven't measured my trigger, but I like the way it feels.

Is it worth a $200 premium (or more) over the basic model? I think you could make a strong argument that it's not, but I could also imagine spending a lot of money on the trigger and barrel (can you even buy a fluted aftermarket barrel yet?) of a base model and it's nice to have those things out of the box.

No buyer's remorse for me, but I imagine that I'd be equally happy with the A1 had I gone that route and never knew the PC version existed. I'm a consumer who has a difficult time passing up a "premium" model if it's in my price range, and I'm sure the people at S&W know there are a lot of buyers out there like me

I am going to buy my wife a new 15-22 and I was curious about this. I know Belt_Fed has made a few fluted barrels for 15-22s, but I wondered if it would be worth it just to get the PC or MOE for her and make tweaks to her preference.

I will be watching to see what people say.

Default Sweet PC

I really like the way my PC shoots. I have shot somewhere around 1500 rounds and either the gun is getting better or I am. I have used sandbags and mounted a bipod on the gun which gives me one inch groups at 50 yards. I have a Millett DMS 1-4X24 scope which is great out to about the 50 yard mark. I have a Bushnell Ledgend 5-15 which I may take with me next time out and see how it does at 75-100 yards. I have a Savage .17HMR which is a 1" gun out to 150 yards so I don't put any unrealistic expectations on this gun. I have not had any issues with feeding or failure to fire so far. I have only shot a mix of different CCI rounds so far due to the fact I seems to work well in the gun. I have not shot a standard or MOE version of the gun to compare it to but I happy with my choice.

Aloha all, Ordered a PC version yesterday. It has everything I wanted on it. Considered a lower price model, but shipping charges from all of the vendors on the mainland are a deal breaker for me. If I could get all the add-ons from one vendor, that would be different. Even my FFL dealer works off a desk with his computer. He stocks nothing! There are no stocking dealers here on Maui, and Walmart does not even have ammo.

Prior to ordering, the police charge $30 for fingerprinting and a FBI background check. After a 20 day waiting period, you finally get a permit to buy a rifle. When the gun arrives, you have 3 days to register it.

While living in paradise has many advantages, there are none when it comes to firearms.

i had the opportunity to shoot a PC version this past weekend...an out-of-state gentleman was at our local range with his and struck up a conversation about my "MOE" model ( for those who didnt see the previous postin--i build my own MOE instead of waiting for availability)

I noticed NO difference between mine and his aside from the fluted barrel...it performed just like mine and after chatting with the gentleman it seems he had the same ammo preferences as myself as well--

the VLTOR stock and the barrel are the perks and I must say the barrel is impressive to view...If i found a used one i would drop a few extra $$ for one...

No Downsides Phil...it seems its a preference issue

Have had my performance center model for a few weeks. Previously had a standard model. I haven't noticed and appreciable difference. Have ordered a Gemtech G5-22 suppressor for it. Between backorder status and ATF may get it by Christmas. Am now looking for a good reflex sight that will co-witness with the open sights. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
