Default Anyone using knock-off eotech's?

I'm not one to pay more for accessories than the gun's worth. Nothing against those that do though.

I'm also not a fan of putting airsoft type things on ammo shooting guns but it's a .22 and I'm not gonna lie - I've been eyein those EOTech clones.

Anyone rockin those and care to share pics / feedback?

Would not buy a cheap knock off of anything especially made in China. I have heard nothing good about their optics. Its not at all unusual to have optics on a gun that cost as much or more than the gun its self. The weapon is only as good as its weakest link.

I have real interest in the Bushnell Holosight- LEt me say that not only does it look like an EOTech and it's made by EOTEch, I read "Dalton Fury"'s book, who was the Delta Force commander of the teams sent into Tora Bora after 9/11 to Kill Bin Laden, he remarks several times that the Delta Force guys were using "Bushnell HOLOsights" on their weapons. If it's good enough for Delta it's got to be good enough for my 15-22, Googling them only finds two stores selling them, Natchez is OOS and the other place is close to $250.

anyone have info on them? Use etc. Cause I think that an EOTech is perfect for my 15-22.

this place has them for $208 free ship.
Bushnell 510023 All Riflescopes - Sports Optics

this was one of the ones i considered, but i had mixed feelings as not many places at all seem to have them. i wish i knew that they were actually made by eotech, seems like a deal.

I just saved up and bought a Eo 512. No more China junk on my guns. No more wasting the money once only to have to buy again, either.

I can't find that Bushnell Holosight on Bushnell's website. I wonder if it has been discontinued. I've searched several other internet retailers and can no longer find it on their sites either.

that's precisely the reason i moved on while searching for a scope. it's too bad the eotech rimfire model won't fit our rails.

Got a g&p eotech clone and it works great. Removed it to use a aimtpoint clone because i like the single dot more. (replaced that one for a real aimpoint which is amazing)

I had to LOL @ this because I have more in (Magpul) accessories than my gun is worth, *And then* I bought an Aimpoint Micro for it, And then the mount LOL... My 15-22 rivals some people's 5.56 ARs.

it was my baby, my pet project, and my entry into and was going to be my only AR/M4 style rifle. It only gave my Black Rifle Disease (BRD) and caused me to become addicted to Magpul and the like, and then I needed a 5.56 AR/m4 and decking it out to relieve my BRD withdrawal symptoms.

If it were not for the fact that China rips off the patents on all these knock off's I'd have no problem buying one but I will be darned if I am gonna help them rip off good american companies!!! Those devils blatantly copy patented items from Eotech, Magpul, Aimpoint, Bushnell, anyone they can. Its a dang shame.

OH BTW-

I wanted to comment, that I am indeed quite certain it has been discontinued from Bushnell, I found that out a while ago, that is one of the main reasons it's not available so much online.

Someone (NOT ME so if this isn't true plz don't hold me to it ) was posting somewhere sometime that actually, the FIRST Bushnell HOLO's were more looking like a EOTech 512. The ones on opticsale.com look a little like a cross between an XPS and a 512, not as big, long, or squared as a 512, not quite as compact or curvy as an XPS.

I did get some pretty reliable intel that said they absolely were made by EOTEch for Bushnell and one of the reasons they stopped was they realized it would absolutey cut into their bidness- why buy a $400 minimum (for the base model 512) when you could pay for a $200 just as good. you would lose virtually ALL the rimfire business, ppl who don't at all need the EOTech, the HOLO would be absolutely find. You'd lose a lot of normal entry-level civilian business, who say, I don't really NEED TO use an EoTech, don't Want to spend the money, I'll go for the $200 one.

And you might even lose some professional business, a Sheriff's dept out somewhere or smaller PD budget, they might say hey listen, we're gonna go into the 21st century and give you ARs, and we'll give you optics but listen we ain't got all kind of money. We can't give out no $2500 weapon systems as extras. We're told these $200 ones will do job good enough, and "good enough " is "good enough" for us.

So I can see EOTech saying, Forgeeeeeeet that mess. LOL.

I am gonna eventually bight the bullets on this and buy one. I woudn't be happy with a 512, I'd want the Navy SEAL/ Spec Forces EOTech, what's that the 3-2 or sometuing, for $700? a HOLO will work on my 512 I bet, and then my Aimpoint Micro is going back on my M930SPX Woohoo!

FYI - The Bushnell Holosight was indeed made by L3 but was only the same thing as an Eotech in that a Ford is the same thing as a Ferrari with both having four wheels and a windshield... The Bushnell did not have any of the shock and impact resistance the Eotech has. Guys mounted the Holosight to magnum handguns, shotguns, and rifles and they had a bad rep for breaking internals. Any Eotech can be mounted on crew serv weapons and take a lifetime of punishment. My 512 was placed on a M2HB for giggles once at a range visit for quals. It had a very OMG this is fun factor for it. That was over four years ago now and that same 512 is still fully functional. Oh, and I found it on sale for less than $400 including shipping.

I have a couple of Bushnells (not the holo sight) that have worked very well for me. One on a 22 one on a 40s&w carbine.

I have one Chinese that so far has worked well for me on a 15-22 but I have never had it out in adverse weather.

Knock off optics are a big nono for me (now).
I've tried several, thinking to be smart and saving money, but in the end they were all ****!! And I ended up saving up for the real deal, and never looked back.

I don't mind budget scopes - got a Redfield (budget brand of Leupold) on one of my rifles, and it is realy quite good.

With optics, you get what you pay for, and quality is expensive. This doesn't mean the most expensive optics are x-much better, but when a price sounds to good to be true, it is!.
I've learned to live with it.

I am also anti-knock-off, people see the thingy that looks like ACOG shape and go, wowy-maui it's the same for 50 not 1500! Except, you know, you aint gettin the whole Tritium glowing and fiber optic illumination and that ... lol... the EOTEch knockoffs look the same, but they aint, the Aimpoints look the same, except 50 hours battery not 50,000 lol.

The big problem is the glass sucks- it's like looking thru a blue filtered sunglass lol, terrible glass quality terrible all around but they're so cheap and so they sell- airsoft is big difference than firearms baby!

And maybe it's me but , I do not at all considert the HOLOSight by Bushnell to be anything close to a knockoff, if made by the same company or similiar situation like that, and renamed etc. that's not a knockoff IMHO.

My company sells optical testing equipment to premier optics. I had a long discussion with some engineers there as well as knowing optics pretty well myself. You should realize that lots of high quality optics are actually coming out of china. These are from American/European companies, but either have assembly in china or oem parts in china.

This is different than a knockoff brand. In the above case, the company owns the factory or is licensing the manufacturing that they own. Also, realize lots of product that has the same functionality at the same price from different brand names might be coming from the same place or at least having the same internals.

As already said, with optics you do get what you pay for, however you might not need all the differences for the cost. I want our guys going into harms way to have 15 layer anti reflective coated lens with 9 elements packaged in titanium carbon fiber etc etc. I don't need that to hit paper targets at the range.

a big issue with china is that once a company gets prod manuf there, many times the chinese manuf will take that design and OEM it out to others or make product under their own name without prior consent. for those really interested in this, read, 'poorly made in china' , a great explanation of what really goes on there and why it is so dangerous for the US to be letting manufacturing happen there without better laws.

I bought an Aimpoint clone years ago. I knew it was cheap but I wanted to test the waters before putting down some good money. The scope was junk. I couldn't even get the thing to zero. I gave it to my son for his airsoft gun.

I'd say don't buy the clone stuff unless you are prepared to throw that money away.

I tell this story al ot but its applicable. When I was brand new to buying firearms and certainly even newer to optics, I let the local gun shop sell me two NcStar sights. I needed one for an AK I bought my pop for this 60th bday, another for the 15-22. I was assured they were fine etc. good value etc. The bigger one was a large round red dot with a red laser, for the AK. the one I kept was slightly less, almost $70, it was the small 4 reticle holosight you see ALL OVER with different brand names.

The thing is, you could not adjust the reticles. You needed to PICK a reticle, then zero it real good and tighten it down real good, confirm your zero ,and you were good. I used the "eotech" style reticle, circle with a dot. When I did this, it was a fine little sight for the indoor range, 25 yd. maxmimum, and it put the rounds exactly on target at close 7-15 yd range and also good bullseyes down 25. I said, what are othhehrs buying EOTEch's aimpoints for etc? This is fine!

Then the battery died in like 2 or 3 different uses, of course new battery necessary therefore new zeros- certainly not an Aimpoint. And then, in the middle of a range session, my friend is using it, it splits horizontally in half, just separates into a top half and bottom half. BROKEN for no reason. I'd like to think my dooshbag friend did it, he didn't it was all NcStars great quality. I returned it, an d they didnt want to take it but they finally did and gave me the credit, I bought MiniMags lol.

My point is, buy once cry once, I wasted the $60 on it and it would have been towards an Aimpoint/EOTech - should have been. The $80 Red Dot/Red Laser on my dad's AK, certainly won't hold up to the recoil of the 7.62 round or the abuse an AK should be taking but my Dad doesn't really shoot it, it's more like a SHTF rifle for him so, I can't complain it hasn't broken YET.

The two Aimpoint Micro R-1's I bought at Christmas time are the best purchases I've ever made in the firearms industry- PURE QUALITY- Worth every dime. For me it's Aimpoint/EOTech all the way, Trijicon if I could afford t hem but they'rei n a whole nother level. Although I do absolutely love my Trijicon green/yellow night sights on my Glock 23.

Just got an Aimpoint H-1. It is fantastic!. Mounting was simple, fits right on the 15-22 rail. Very easy to dial in. Once set, it stays set. Shot goes exactly where the dot is. Also comes with a 10 year warranty. Yea, it cost a little more than the gun, but I couldn't hit anything with the iron sights. Really looking forward to the next rimfire rifle plate shoot.

Trifle you have the Aimpoint Micro mounted directly on the 15-22 rail, no mount or riser? And you can see it enough to shoot therefore hit something? Can you take a quick pic, snap one snd post so I can see what ya did?

Yea, I purchased the 552 Eotech clone from china, $70 free shipping from Amazon. Well it had red/green dot with a ring and within a week the green stopped working. It stayed zero on my AAR15 5.56, but the green stopped working, also the battery last only a month. You get what you pay for, I got less. So learn from my mistake, save up for a better optic, stop wasting dollars on cheap clones. I won't even sell it or give it away, not worth it..
