So I didn't see anything like a "definitive scope review" thread in the sticky section. I have seen a few threads for recommendations on scopes, including the one I added yesterday. I thought it would be beneficial to everyone to maybe post a pic of ur scope installed (yes like the picture thread) but just for scopes. With the model number u bought but also give a review of how you like it, maybe on a star scale of 1-5 pros, cons etc. Ok go!

I'd sure like to see some posts here. Took the 15-22 out today with my 10 year old and it is about a perfect a firearm as I have ever owned. Flawless and fun. Want to replace the stock sights with maybe a red-dot or something like it. This is not really a hunting rifle just a fun target shooter. Thoughts, opinions, etc. are wanted.

Ok here is my take. I went scope because it's a FUN gun for me, goes to the range everytime. I can shoot up close or max out the range at 150yards, doesn't matter... AND, I don't have to walk down range to check targets.

Now I have the Tasco scope: Tasco 6-24x42 Target / Varmint Riflescope VAR624X42M FREE UPS Rifle scope 6-24x42mm

I would rate this scope a 4 on this .22. It's a little blurry in higher magnification but it is still usable on max settings.

Having said all that, I would spend another 20 dollar and get this one, lol.

Whitetail Classic Rifle Scope 6.5-20x 50mm Adjustable Objective Truplex Reticle Matte

I hadn't seen it till I had mine.

NcStar Mark III 3-9 power x 42mm Objective, QD Mount.

It's been a good scope, considering the price it's clear, it's held zero and it fits the rifle well.

On my S&W M&P 15-22, 5.56 AR, and M930SPX, I use Aimpoint Micros (R-1) ... Absolutely amazingly awesome.

Cannot stress enough how lucky I am to have them and how they quickly sold me on their value- They are rock solid tough and they have such battery life- on setting 8 of 12 it's like 5 years, on setting 12 of 12 (The MAXIMUM, and you'd only need o use that on an incredibly bright sunny day facing the sun into your shooting) it'll burn for a full year. It drops right onto the factory rail on the M930SPX, for the AR's I use a Daniel Defense 'tall' mount offering a lower 1/3 cowitness. Maybe I should have tried a QD type mount with thay Arms-throwlever style but when I got the R-1's, the internet entire mofo internet sold out of all Micro mounts for Aimpoint, I was lucky to get one DD Tall mount at the time, and it's what I went with and was like $69 not $100-$200 like others.

Now as far as scopes, I admit I don't use this on my 15-22 BUT I do use them on my other two .22LRs, a Remington 597 and a Savage Mark II. This is the Nikon ProStaff 4-12x40mm scope, I have a "Nikoplex" reticle (fine duplex, aka standard old crosshairs) and a "BDC" Reticle (Bullet Drop Compensating_ ...

These scopes are AMAZING. Redonkulous light transmission.brightness and clarity. I keep these on 4x and they're just GREAT, and of course, don't forget you can dial it up to 12 lol. Both were about $200 scopes I got for $160ish and I am happy happy with them. The quality is there and I feel the value is there, which are two huge important issues to me. Now also, with the BDC reticle- if I had only KNOWN about Nikon's caliber ballitics program, Spot On! You have to see this to believe it- you load it up, and select your stuff.

i.e., add in y our scope choice (For me, a ProStaff 4-12x40mm BDC), your round, lets say this case im using CCI Mini Mags, and then choose the 40 gr RN or 36gr JHP, and ok good.

Now the data- Im in an indoor range at the 25 yd line, but I want a 100 yd zero. Lets do some calculations. It will show me how to shoot at the 25 yd line, and if I am shooting the 40 gr mini mag round noses, be 1.51 inches high at 25 yds for a 100 yd zero, PLUS., then I have 107, 124, 139, and 162 yd zeroed bullet drop dots .. put them on my target for BOOM. Its amazing, worth the 160 bucks for a ProStaff anyday!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SCOPE.

NcStar Compact Rubber Coated scope 3x9x42, not hard on the wallet, does the job, optics are clear at 9x

Gotta agree with Brett248Vista my NcStar Mark III 3-9x42 has been flawless and for the money a great investment. In fact it was his You Tube review that made me take the plunge. I got one that had perfectly aligned reticles and holds zero. The quick release mount is a nice bonus as well.

Obviously the M&P 15-22 isn't a sniper rifle but a scope makes them a whole lot of fun. I'll try and post up a picture of my setup later but I use an iPad and attachments are a real pain.

Mine is the NcStar 3-9x42 Compact Tactical and works great! It is rubberized but doesn't have the hood like the Mark III...a little cheaper, tho.

Holds zero, very clear optics, I'd rate it a 4.....:D

Well here is my contribution to this thread, it is a Leapers UTG 3-12x 44mm SWAT IE AO Mildot EZ-Tap Water Proof Scope W/UTG QD 30mm 4-Screw Hi-Profile Scope Rings. It doe's have a lots of bells & whistles which I haven't tried yet but the red, green & blk. Mildot reticles are clear & right on the money @ 25 yds. :D. The price of this scope was under $100 @ Optics Planet ;).

new to rifles, not sure if i wanted scope or red dot. got a ncstar 1.5-6x mag. shooting at 25/50 yds so didn't need too much mag.

remember the higher the mag, the more magnified your shake. scope works well for the $60. however, I agree with scrapmaster. next scope will be nikon. not too expensive, but a class above. I sell optics in another field for a living, and the saying with optics, you get what you pay for is definitely true. I just want to make sure I only get what i need and not spend lots of performance I can't use.
