Went trap shooting with my buddy I temporarily gave the bump stock too...gonna sell it to him and use the money to get the new "winter trigger" version. Can't wait! Definitely gonna have to get some quick detach rings for my scope and a cheap BSA open red dot or something for it tho...maybe just use the MBUS irons that never get any use.
Having actually shot the stock(M&P AR15), I can tell you while there is no PRACTICAL use for it...the fun factor is awesome and with the price of .22 ammo the 15-22 will make it a great combo.
Btw I have a RRA single stage trigger.

I wasn't able to get mine to work at all with CCI Blazer standard velocity. I did get some 3-4 rounds bursts with CCI Mini Mags.
I think I need to do some more trigger work and also shave down where it still appears to be hitting the trigger guard. Maybe some lube on the buffer tube as well.

I installed the JP yellow springs. No other trigger work done so far. I still think it may have something to do with the stock binding.

Mind telling us where you found it for under $300. I googled it and cheapest I could find it was $349

It was a private sale. If I can't get mine to work, I will probably post it in the classifieds.

That sounds like a good deal, thanks for the heads up and link. When sending your rifle to him, do you have to send it through some type of special mail since its a firearm?
Oh by the way i found out the link is www.triggerwork.net

Cool. I emailed him and he quoted me $54 for 3 pound trigger pull job. I am very curious to see if the slide fire works with his 3.5 pound trigger job. I am anxious to hear your results.

Don't get too light of a trigger or you will get a lot of FTF's. I was experiencing a few with just the yellow springs alone (~4.5-5lbs).

Well everyone who has.the slide fire on the m&p 1522 has an aftermarket trigger or has had a gunsmith lighten the trigger for them...the consensus from the videos seems to be that the trigger pull has to be somewhere around 3-4 lbs. So 3.5 should b perfect....i didnt have any ftf s yesterday with my jp yellows

I just finished doing the modifications done here:
SSAR-15 on a S&W M&P 15-22 - YouTube
The stock now seems to slide much better. I just received 3000 rounds of CCI Blazer and I'm itching to go try them out now.

I think it probably has a lot to do with your technique and of course you will get better with practice.
It takes getting used to on an AR15, so I imagine the 15-22 requires much more experience to run smoothly.
Because of the lack of recoil you're going to have to find the perfect balance between pushing enough to return to battery but not so hard that the trigger will not reset...vertical grip is key I think, and every video I see online shows the guys resting there hand behind the mag.
Did u guys try this or with some type of vertical grip attachment?

Here is a video of mine in action:
Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 Slide Fire Stock SSAR-15 - YouTube
I can now get it to do 3-4 round bursts easily. I did have one that was about 12 rounds. Still haven't been able to achieve a full mag dump.

hi guys new member here long time lurker,if you have trouble lightening your trigger 1st you need to rebend the hammer springs then second punch the drift out of the bolt holding the firing pin in and either shorten or replace it with a lighter spring(i did the lighter spring)these rifles have a killer firing pin spring and will fail to fire like crazy without changing it out--btw mine is down to 2.5lbs and runs mag after mag without a hiccup with my home version of the ssar, mine only cost $80 total and runs like full auto--and just like the ssar contains no springs or mechanical parts in case the alphabet boys are watchin lol, hope this helps a few of you and saves you $$$$

Was hoping no one would notice.
I had taken them off to see if it would help and then put them back on for the video before I left the range.

Did it help? I took all the acessories off one by one until I got it to do some bursts finally....by that time all I had on was rail covers and the foregrip ....video up when I get back home

try an open hand palm up on the forearm and make sure your trigger finger is rigid--there is a learning curve i have found out, after you get it working right the accesories can be put back on

ok so it worked alot better but my technique is something to work on....its not just point and pull forward like all the videos show....its a bunch of very specific little things that all have to happen at once to make it work......
That said, i was getting a terrible amount of failure to fires and too many light primer strikes. I emailed bill spring field and he said to put the stock hammer spring back in and it should cure my problem.....if it wasnt for the darn light primer strikes and all the ftf's that happened mid mag dumping, i could have actually done a full mag dump....so heres the video
ssar15 slide fire stock and a m&p 1522 - YouTube

It is definitely more about technique. Try standing up straight and don't look through the sights. Pull he stock in tight and don't let your trigger hand/finger move. Try not to grip too tightly with your front hand.

cool boamedt, i know s&w set these up so you cant get an accidental discharge but come on do we really need 7lb+ triggers? my 10/22 passed 10 lbs before the trigger broke-thats insane i like no more than 3lbs on my hunters and my target rifles all break at 1lb--1st thing i do to my rifles is a trigger job right out of the box

Mine was 5 lbs 9 oz out of the box - measured, not estimated. My 10/22 (purchased in the mid-80s) broke at 7.
Like you, my match guns break in the 14 -18 oz range, but the 15-22 isn't a match gun.
Everything else but the 15-22 break at 3 pounds or so.

majorlk its a shame the newer guns trigger pulls are so heavy, the lawyers dictate trigger pull these days to cut down on lawsuites so real sportmen must either learn some simple gunsmithing or pay big bucks for a drop in unit--i say an out of the box gun is just the basic kit to build a good or great firearm

Can't say I disagree with that at all. Actually, though, I think the 5 1/2 pound trigger on mine (out of the box) isn't all that bad. It's better than the OTB pull of my 77/22, 10/22 and Mini-14. All three have been worked on by Clark Custom Guns and have superb triggers now.

I think I'm going to put the stock hammer spring back in and only leave the JP yellow trigger spring. About a third of my 3 round bursts would end with a FTF.
I'll report back if I get out to the range this weekend.

Just tried the above and it made the trigger pull way too hard so I put the JP yellow hammer spring back in.

Has anyone tried firing theirs with an AFG pulled all the way back to the magwell? It seems like it might help the balance.

a bit off topic but fostech just released their 10/22 aa2 stock-the old atkins accellerator without the spring--$629.00--and we thought the s&w15-22 one was high!!!

Success! I am able to do full mag dumps at will.
Here is a clip of a 3 round burst followed by the mag dump:

I just tried my slide fire for the first time. It's the sbs version and my trigger pull is 3lbs. The most I could get was a 3-4 round bursts on occasion. I had TONS of fts's. I think I am going to try the firing pin mod that ballistictoyz did. Dpg did you do the firing pin mod? Also are you holding your trigger finger straight when firing in your video?

No firing pin mod. I did some minor polishing on the trigger and dry fired it a bunch until the action was as smooth as possible. This seems to have made the difference.
