Yeah, not in the least bit ridiculously overpriced for a sling adapter...
That said if it ever does come down in price I would definitely grab one.

Agreed, over priced for sure..... But the savings from the ammo, put a little in the jar when you buy 22 ammo, and use that to buy this later.. I hope that helps.. I did the MOE cap drilled into the back route.. more in line with the weapons lines..

it isn't too far off price wise from the daniel defense one i got stuck with a year ago that i couldn't make fit without destroying the rifle. not saying i'm in a rush over it either. just nice to have another guaranteed to fit option without unpinning the stock.
the phrase "tango down" is referring to your wallet when you purchase their products.

Glad to hear there are some options out there! Any others that you guys know of, or advice for putting together your own?
Just last night I was trying to jury rig my 3 pt with an extra buckles/... Did not work so great...
Would to hear some homemade fixes!
Here's what I'm working with

That's what I used for mine... couple wraps of paracord around the tube tacked with a little hot glue, knotted a small loop for my Magpul MS 2 sling for single point set-up. I have a Magpul RSA on the top rail to convert to 2 point.

just drill/tap your "buffer tube" and put a swivel on it...it's cheap (under $10), strong and effective.........i have mine done this way and it works great

Just realize you are drilling and tapping plastic, albeit a tough plastic. If I were going to do something like that, I would prefer to bolt through both sides of the tube.

I received a couple of PM's inquiring and asking to post a pic of my "50 cent" paracord single point attachment idea. The knot is a single "constrictor" with the tightening over/under laps on the bottom of the tube. If you know your knots it's very strong and perfect for lashing. By itself it is very tight and does not slip at all on the tube, but I placed just a very small dot of hot glue under it prior to tightening it down to make absolutely sure. I then single knotted both ends together to form the loop, leaving the lengths long for a little character. It works great with my MS2 sling, it's light and cheap, Plus the camo paracord looks good on my "real tree"camo S&W M&P 15-22
Note: You do lose the first position of your stock adjustment even with this method.

Boxerglocker,
That looks like a perfect cheap and easy setup thanks! I will have to do some reading up on knots though...any good links?
OT, but is that a hydro film camo job or does Smith have that as an option now? Would love to see a full size pic as well as know what type of 2 pt sling you have there? I think I could probably convert my 3 pt to 2 if I wanted tho I dunno

you can't just put that on a fixed stock rifle in a compliance state without extra work as they are pinned.
the point of the post is that this is a dedicated single point sling mount for use on the 15-22 without removing the stock, and so far its the only one i've seen.
that mount, the shipping, and the cost of having a gunsmith install it could be equivalent or more (i was quoted $50 to drill pin, and replace it. same as stock change), and not easily removable without returning to the gunsmith.

Wow, fixed stocks on a 22? And I thought CA had ****** gun laws.
Well, I guess being the only solution on the market for that situation they can justify that price, but its going to definitely limit it to mainly people in states with pinned stock or people that just don't shop around or HAVE to have something by them. Personally I have never really like the single point sling thing, looks great for that "tacticool" mall-ninja photo, but in real life it would be a pain to deal with if you were trying to move quickly.

Actually, there's an MI one (MCTAR30HD) that'll do the same as the one above - still pricey, but less than the Tango Down:
MIDWEST-INDUSTRIES-AR-15-MCTAR-30HD-SLING-ADAPTER
Don't know how well it goes specifically with the 15-22 as I use the MCTAR30 (non-HD) version, because we can do whatever we want with our butt stocks in the UK

That one won't work on a 15-22. You need this one to clear the 'lug' that runs the length of the 'buffer tube':

Yes - that's the one that I actually use. As said I couldn't vouch for the HD version as I haven't personally used it. Thanks for clarifying things for fixed stock owners - looks like the Tango Down is the off the shelf solution then...

The knot for the sling point I used is a “constrictor” lashing knot and can be found here: Constrictor Knot - How to tie a Constrictor Knot it is working really well with the Magpul MS2 sling. I have a Magpul RSA on the top rail for 2 point conversion but am thinking of just doing the same loop set-up on the rail and using the RSA elsewhere or selling it to raise more funds for 22LR ammo or reloading supplies.
The dipped real tree camo is stock from S&W. I bought the rifle last year at a LGS. Honestly don’t know if they are still offering it anymore. Well guess they do: Product: Model M&P15-22 - .22 Long Rifle, Realtree® APG HD® Camo
I like it and it really stands out on the rack with the sea of 15-22 MOE’s and conversions at the local . 22LR rifle matches. I try not to expense too much into this rifle it tends to get the hand me downs from my others that didn’t work out too well to my liking. I had thought of the MI loop adapter but the thing I don’t like about it is it is either one side or the other and does not work as well as the Magpul ASAP for transitions. The paracord mimics the ASAP.
I’m in the process of getting ready to Krylon rattle can paint the front and rear MBUS FDE and Foliage green. It currently sports a Vortex Strikefire RD but that will probably be replaced with a an PA Micro dot that I will also paint.
I don’t have a current pic, but here it is when new…

I got a KZ 3QD Agency Sling Mount for $20 and cut it to make it work the middle hole can not be used with out modifying the push pin sling ring or the gun. I don't see myself using that hole so no need to modify anything to make it useable.I could of made my own but damn it would of took longer then it was worth when I can get one for $20.

It looks like this would work without modification since it has the deep "buffer tube" cut out.

It should I like the push pin release is the reason I went with that, and if poeple in the states where they have pinned stocks need a cheap option their it is but they will need to know someone that can mill it for them.

Wicked Easy Mod
_4141991.jpg
Take a look at the MOE version.
I bought a set of Uncle Mike's push button swivels. Something like 12.00.
CAREFULLY measured and lined up the rifle and drill size needed.
Locked it down in a drill press to keep everything straight and in line. Then drilled straight through.
Use some kind of super duper 2 piece glue and set the Uncle Mikes' bases in. Let them set. Came out hard as a rock, looks factory.
I used both sides because I'm a lefty my son's a Right.
Came out wicked tough and cool looking.
Hope this helps.
Regards.

Guy's just a heads up on that Amazon Add for 28.66 I just ordered one and the shipping is almost half the cost of the product, I complained and LG Outdoors said I can return it for a 15% restock fee! These guys are a rip off so be cautious if you want to buy anything from them they will jam you with a 15% restock fee. This item weighs about 6 ounces and they could have shipped US Mail for 1/3rd the price.

Fixed stocks, seriously? As I was reading the posts it took me a few seconds to understand what was the problem. I have the MOE model and because of this I have forgotten that other models don't have the built in sling point. Then I find out some of you have fixed stocks. Is there a reason why you have to have fixed stocks? Do shorter stocks kill people or something? What states have this abuserd law?

It's not the shorter stock, it's the adjustable stock.
Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and a couple of others. It's called the Assault Weapons Ban and you can thank a democrat - Bill Clinton - for it. Several democrat-controlled states made it state law when the federal law expired. And Obama has already publicly stated during the last debate that he intends to see the federal ban re-instated.

Here we go again, changing the name of stuff on our rifles. I thought we settled on the fact that our rifles were made out of polymer.

The M&p15-22 is made from High Strength/heat resistant polymer.

That's what Dictators, Communists and Nazis do, that is the only way they can stay in power....is to rob it's citizens of their ability to 'just say NO', and have a means to ensure government can't say 'YES' without the approval of it's citizens.
Arms in the hands of individual citizens may be used at individual discretion for the defense of the country, the over-throw of tyranny, or in private self-defense. - John Adams

I vote for plastic, it's easier to type than High Strength/heat resistant polymer.

Sounds like a ban on Liberals buying guns is a better idea. Their the ones going nuts and shooting people so they should not be allowed to own any firearm.

I live in Massachusetts where I can't have an adjustable stock due to the AWB (thanks Mitt Romney!). I cry whenever I see some of the stuff you guys get to have.

You've got to move to one of the other "M" states that lets you have the fun toys. Montana, Mississippi, Michigan,...ugh, I never did learn all of my states and I had to look up the spelling of Mississippi.

Here's my custom on point sling. It's spring loaded found on brownells. Filled the hollow buffer tube and molded over the sling attach. Dyed black to match. A bit overkill but had the materials laying around.
