Newbie, Hi...what to get first
Hello,
Newbie here! Just picked up my new toy. have not shot it yet, but I already love it...Its so BAD ***!
Anyway, I want to get a least one of those bipods that folds up under the stock. I saw one at the range, and I liked how it worked. Does anyone recommend one? I saw one on Amazon for about $50, but it said it was for a real AR. Will this work with the 15-22? I understand they are pretty close.
Also, I want to get a small red-dot. Someone mentioned just go to Dicks and get one for an airgun (really) will that work? I would like to spend no more than about $50.
thanks!

check out UTG products for our guns. I think they are built well for the prices they ask. They do have a nice bipod for 26$ shipped from outdoorbunker.com As there is not much recoil u can get a airsoft red dot for the 15-22 and it should work just fine

I love my UTG scopes I have on most of my rifles (I have 4 UTG scopes overall).
The rails on the 15-22 are picatiny, its a standard, so anything for an AR platform that is rail mounted will work.
As for a red dot. I have two Tru Glow red dots (one that is both red and green) and a Tasco that I bought at Walmart. The Tasco, I believe, has been the best buy so far, less than 40 bucks, looks good and stays on target.
Having said that, I replaced all my red dots with scopes because after you get out much past 25 yrds, the dot will cover up the target.

I've heard that you can get some pretty decent red dots from quality airsoft stores if you want to keep the price down... Beyond that I would stock up on LOTS of ammo and go shoot a bunch and figure out what you really want!! Bipods have there purpose but can also get in the way sometimes.

I think you're on the right track as far as what to get first. I got a bipod so my kid could shoot more accurate at the range. I ended up using it just as much as he did. I also started with a BSA red dot optic as I was debating between red dot and scope. Jury is still out.

Take this for what its worth, but the very best thing you can buy first is ammo. Lots of it. Maybe 1000 rounds. Then, when that ammo is gone, you'll have a much clearer opinion of what you want in terms of accessories. If you buy them now, I can all but promise that you'll buy parts that you'll later have for sale in the classified section.

I second that recommendation - shoot LOTS first and then worry about additions.

Ditto on 44mag.com; they have the best prices day in and day out and they always have a good supply. Of course the only color they have is the standard black.
There are two things you can never have too much of: magazines and ammo!

Some may disagree with me, but the more you spend on an optic, chances are, the longer it will last and the more durable it may be. Sight in the iron sights first, then use the red dot. Play with it first.

First thing you need are about 300 rounds of minimags and then some bricks of whatever bulk ammo you like.
I got a magpul afg2 but to be honest it was kind of an impulse buy and I hardly use it. A red dot is a great purchase though.

It doesn't matter what you get first, it's what you get that makes you think "there, I'm done". That's when the madness starts, you're never done. The first thing will be the first step into addiction. Welcome to the support group. Hi my name is Juvicator and I'm an accessories addict.

First off welcome to the "insanity" smoothice Just kidding Owning a 15-22 is addicting, so accesorizing it can be fun. You will just have to read some of the tips here on the forum & look through the pic. thread to see what you might like Personally when I got mine I started with a scope & then a bipod as you can see in the pic. I have posted. If you would like more info. PM me.

That is the beauty of the M&P 15-22.
Add what you want when you can.
There are a lot more parts I want but one thing at a time. My kids 7 and 5 one girl and one boy love to shoot the 15-22. They empty the mag and then tell me that was not all the ammo they put in. LoL. I show them the mag. to show them it is empty.
Three times out and have shoot 885 rounds.
