Default Yes the 15-22 + SlideFire works on stock springs..

A little background here..

My buddy Dave (dhvac here on the forums) just purchased his 15-22 and the Version 2 SFS Stock. I stopped over his place on my way home from work, removed the hammer from the rifle and did the "bend leg" trick on the hammer spring and coated all the surfaces with MollyPaste (sear, pins, pin holes) and coated the buffer tube with light silicone spray.

I was able to achieve burst fire till the mag was empty on a never before shot rifle.

So.... Yes it works

*edit* I forgot to add, this was on CCI bulk ammo.

I can only get mine to work sporadically. But I haven't tried the spray on the buffer. What type do you use? Someone on youtube said to use grease but that seams a little thick.

This was just a "quickie" test because Dave had an appointment. We didn't run a full mag through the rifle yet. I used regular aerosol spray silicone on the receiver extension tube, but honestly I think a dry graphite powder would work better. I had to tinker with the trigger because my first set of bends in the hammer spring were a bit too radical and I had problems with the trigger reset. After I backed off the bend a little and applied the molly paste to the pins and sear face the trigger is nice and smooth.

I was able to do at least four round burst and then I ran out of ammo and time.

Can you imagine using that thing in NY though. I would have to buy about 20, 10rnd. magazines because it would need to be fed so fast. Like 1 second burst then change the magazine.

From what I have basic knowledge of, you really can't buy a slide fire in NY, not because it mimics full auto, but because it kinda goes along the terms of a collapsible/telescoping stock. That doesn't stop people in NY from selling them though. Tons of gun stores here sell SlideFire and will tell you that it is legal. I, however, would say otherwise. I don't feel like getting in trouble with the law anytime soon. It sucks because I live 10 minutes away from PA where they can pretty much do w/e the hell they want in terms of guns.

Please remove NYC (or at least its applicable laws) from upstate NY. This would clear things up quick. One tiny portion of NY (which just happens to have a lot of people) gets to make the decisions for nearly the entire state. I hate it.

gotta love the "UNITED states" it doesnt make any sense to have different gun laws for different states....what if the USA ever got invaded...i no all the gun freaks in america are just waiting for that to happen.....now couldnt u imagine in our stupid society that this scenario could happen......

say we do get invaded by whoever...so now we can shoot invaders, right? so u shoot some someone and its got to be reported right?
" Now, did u shoot this invader in california?"
"yes."
"and were u using a 10 round mag?"
"uh........"
"sir?"
"does it really matter?"
"your under arrest, hands behind the back."

Well, in my opinion, State laws are fine with me, just not all of them. It is good for States to have their own individual state governments or else you would probably have more problems if one central power made all the decisions.

Anyways, hope to see some videos on this slide fire on the .22, sounds good.

Hopefully I can get mine to work today so I can post a video.

Now I am confused on whether I should use both JP yellow springs or just the trigger spring.

I have the 15 and 15-22 and was also curious as to if my slidefire works on the 22 so I swapped it over and gave it a shot. Was able to get 3-8 shot bursts with bone stock trigger, no bent leg or yellow springs (yet). It's mostly technique. Holding the hand guard didn't really produce much results, I found placing your left thumb(for right-handed shooters) behind your mag and gently push it forward til it click off the first round than its just practice from there. I'm going to be going to a drop-in trigger unit around 3 pounds like most everyone else does, but I just wanted to give it a go out of curiosity. So yes it works, but it's not just pick up and dump a mag your first try without at least a little bit of work.

Besides the fun factor is there any reason you all want slide fire stocks?

Other than being drunk is there any other reason to drink? These are WAY more fun than they look on video. Can't appreciate it (unless you've ever had access to FA before) until you do it yourself.

Funny how that's a lot like other things in life

IMO if you can afford to spend $350 on the slide fire you can spend another $200 on a drop in 3lb trigger. Whether it be a Geissele, timney or any of the other good triggers out there. A top notch trigger will help with accuracy more then you realize also.

Yeah well, the point of the post was that it works with the stock innards. Not that it "could work better" with a $400 trigger

Yea, I would like to see where you found a $400 trigger at. Bending FCG springs on even a .22 is dangerous. You do not know how that trigger is going to react. $200 is a small price to pay for safety IMO...

Thanks for watching out for me, but I assure you that the rifle was properly tested before it went to a range and I am certainly not the first to do the bent leg hammer spring trick.

And accuracy really isn't a priority when using a slide fire. It's all about dumping ammo. If you want accuracy then use a regular stock.

You can somewhat aim, especially in bursts, and especially the 22. The 223 on the other hand.... The red dot helps, but you gotta get used to trying to watch the dot as its "vibrating" around when shells are flying. You can always just start shooting and adjust your aim in the second and a half it takes to dump a mag lol

You can aim but it's certainly not target shooting accuracy and it wasn't intended to be. Bump fire is for fun

Ok, children listen to the "old man." My new 15-22 has the yellow springs and the 50 cent set screw to take the slack out of the factory trigger. The hammer notches were lubed with moly wheel bearing grease on a toothpick, ( I always use this stuff). I shot Federal bulk, Winchester 550 and Remington Yellow jackets with a borrowed slide fire. All worked 100%. No lub on the slide at all. Save some money and do it my way, it works!
