Can't say how it would hold up under extreme use conditions...(i.e....in the sand box or mountains of Afghanistan)...but for the recreational tactical training and range warrior...they work nicely. I have UTG risers on two rifles...a UTG Cre LED light mounted to my AR-15...and I use UTG's 3x magnifier mounted in a UTG Quick release FTS mount that is shared between my .556 and .22LR (Both M&P's). I believe I have other stuff, including a couple of very nice rifle cases....and most of this UTG stuff was picked up at a proper gun shop...not an Airsoft shop....so if the gun shop feels they're reliable...I do too. Plus I have 100's of rounds of NATO .556 that says they work.

I just sold that exact UTG Red/Green Dot I had on my rifle (See page 269-270 of the picture thread). It was very well built and held zero even after shooting 2,000+ rounds at the range. The only issue I had with the scope was that the recticle wasn't as crisp as I would like and had some ghosting. I wound up replacing it with a Primary Arms Micro Dot.

im a fan of utg products....i went in to my local gun store, i got referred here for their vast knowledge and ar15 products, looking for a rail that goes on top of my utg carry handle,. i brought the handle with me and asked the clerk. he said "whos utg?" and then proceeded to try to sell me a leupold one for 69.99$ i laughed and promptly left, never to return again

I need something on my rifle just to see the target. Can that magnifier be used as a short scope w/o the red dot?

Thanks for the info guys....I should have everything in a couple days.
Mr. Pokeyman,
Not sure but I wouldn't think so, I don't think there is anything in a magnifier to use as a point of aim. I think it's basically a weapons mountable monocular.

Got the magnifier today!
Its very nice and the quality is a lot better than I thought it would be.
The optics are surprisingly clear and bright.
The only thing I don't like is the flip to the side mount, it's nice but you need to pull the magnifier back toward you and then flip to the side and the same to put it back in place. Works fine but does not work as easily as I would like it to. It may "break in" and work easier over time......
I should get the red dot tomorrow, and the SOG tactical tomahawk I also ordered....
I put it on my M&P 15 TS behind my Vortex Strikefire just to check it out. It sits a little higher than the Strikefire but still worked and would be functional...
Then I put it where it's going...on the 15 22
I will report back once I get the red dot and have a chance to play with it.

Ok got the red dot today....
Again the quality is better than I was expecting. The optics are nice and clear, the dot is good on the lower settings but gets slightly blurry on the higher settings. Green is worst than red. But looking outside the lower settings were still easily visable.
I mounted it but did not get to sight it in yet. Also it works great with the magnifier and it's really nice having the extra power.
Defiantly worth $125....

You could look at the ADM swing mount - I have a Vortex VMX3 magnifier mounted on one and it's just a simple push to swing the magnifier out of the way or back in-line; great for quick transition.
Actually I have a couple of ADM mounts, as I went from an absolute to lower 1/3 co-witness set and still have the abs mount... might have to sell that on some day.

I might have to get that utg red dot and magnifier to go on my new sig m400. I haven't heard anything bad about these optics. I found them on opticsplanet for $120 shipped.

The one I looked at only had about an inch of eye relief.

For the 5th gen utg red dot they have the eye relief listed as flexible. I would hope it would be more than an inch with a red dot. Leapers UTG 5th Gen 4" ITA Red/Green Dot Sight w/2 QD Mounts & Lens Caps this is the link to the one I'm talking about. I believe its the same one originally mentioned in this thread.

Ah I gotcha. I haven't looked at the magnifier yet. 1 inch should be ok on the eye relief. If I put both on there it should fill out my top rail and put the magnifier right where it should be. My nose is usually touching the charging handle when I shoot so that should work out good.

That's a sweet setup PATracker. Let us know how it performs at the range.

Any Updates? How is the sight holding up for you? Does it keep zero pretty well?

So the eye relief on this one wont allow you to keep an MBUS on the rail?

i have the 3.8" version of this red dot and love it. the eye relief is great and i dont see why it would not allow you to use MBUS. as far as adding the magnifier, that would cause your MBUS to be out of focus unless it was flipped to the side.

I was planning on doing just that (or quick disconnect) if the reflex sight dies, I'd be able to flip the magnifier out or remove and still shoot with the mbus

Hi all, new here. I was just wondering if there's any update from PATracker with range update. I'm looking at getting this exact setup. Has the flip to side mount gotten any easier?

I guess I don't understand, if you going to get a magnifier for the red dot why not just get a 4x scope ??

Thanks for the welcome sir! Speaking for myself the magnifier is nice to have when needed with the red dot vs a scope that is *always* on. Could use a QD for both and just swap em out as needed but this setup seems more convenient.

my utg red dot came with a low and high mount. you can try finding a higher mount or just buy a riser to mount your current one on. i have a utg 1" high riser for sale cheap if you're interested.

Sorry guys haven't been on the forums in a while.......
Yes this setup is holding up great I'm very happy with it.
Someone asked, why a magnifier and not just a 4x scope?
For me I like to shoot close up and from further back (100 yds), plus I'm used to more precision shooting and even though I can hit my spinners from a distance with just the red dot it feels right to me to use the extra magnification to see and hit right where I'm aiming.
Also the magnifier comes with a quick detach mount so it pops off and on in seconds.
