Reduced power spring for standard velocity ammo?
My M&P 15-22 shoots eley sport very well, but dosen't always run it perfectly. Is there a reduced power recoil spring that would let it function better with standard velocity ammo? The groups where noticably tighter at 50 yards than any of the other ammo I have tried. And I have about a case and a half of the stuff. Thanks for any info.

you would probably have to try to match up a spring from the hardware store for this,i was thinking along these lines to use cci quiets for my basement range (40gr 710fps),kinda been wondering if i can get them to cycle

There are very few aftermarket accessories/parts dedicated to the 15-22 yet, so no, there are no reduced power springs available.
This is one of those do-it-yourself projects.
The first thing I would do is get a replacement spring from S&W by e-mailing customer support and requesting one. I've received a replacement safety selector and charging handle, free, just by asking.
If you get a replacement, try removing some coils.
The other option is to find a similar spring elsewhere, ie. hardware store, possibly a spring from another firearm, etc..
I just wouldn't recommend messing with the stock spring until you have a factory replacement...
Good luck.

Have you done anything to the trigger yet? One thing you can do if not is install the JP yellow spring set on the trigger. While it won't obviously affect the action, the weaker hammer spring will allow the lower power ammo to spend less of its energy to reset the hammer, thus allowing the bolt to go a little farther back. I have lots of CCI-SV but have never used it in my AR15-22 (dedicated it to my precision Rem 597s instead). Polishing the hammer face and the bottom rear of the bolt will also help the bolt reset with less energy.

+1. Hadn't thought of that. You will kill two birds with one stone taking this approach.

Working on the trigger group does seem like a good place to start.
What is the muzzle velocity and muzzle energy of the ammo you are shooting? Does it cycle some of the time?

Good I ideas I haven't done anything to the trigger it breaks very clean at 4.5 pounds wasn't sure it the kit would help it that much. Eley sport is 1085 fps 105 foot pounds at the muzzle. It runs okay a few more FT feed than high velocity but the gun is noticeably slower cycling. The groups are far better than anything else I have tried and like I said I have lots of it. I will try and get a new spring and try nipping a coil or two off and see after I get another one in hand.

One thing to consider before lightening the spring is whether it might lead to a higher possibility of an out of battery discharge????
Cutting coils off will stiffen the spring. If you wanted a lighter spring your best bet would be to get one with a smaller wire diameter.
From some rough calcs, I would say start with a wire diameter somewhere around 0.028" - this is assuming all other spring dimensions (OD, Length, Compressed Length to be equal). If you have to make a wire diameter compromise, you could go slightly smaller and adjust the stiffness back up by disabling coils.
