I think every citizen in the USA should have at least 1 AR-15 in their home (I know some states don't let you.. but they should) and a crate of ammo. Just in case it ever reverts back to "We the people..."
Mines a Colt LE 6920 with an Adam Arms gas piston kit, Daniel Defense lite rail and swivel QD, Samson flip sights, and Magpul CTR stock. I don't remember who made the pistol grip.

I just bought my first center fire rifle - a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle - and love it. It takes the same ammunition (.223 or 5.56x45) as an AR, much easier to clean (piston operated), and the silhouette doesn't scare the liberals (as much). If I reload and use a brass catcher, it costs less to shoot than a revolver or .45 ACP. It's giving me a chance to break the grandchildren in on something with more reach and thump than .22LR.

Here are my two AR's. Built both of them myself from parts.
5.56 M&P lower, VLTOR upper, Sabre barrel.
6.8 Sun Devil upper/lower, Bison barrel.
And of course, the 22.

Question: Why not? It would be one of the cheaper rifle calibers that you can shoot & a number of other reasons. The more rifles/calibers, the better!

watch the carbon 15 in it's stress points..it really isn't carbon fiber, i thing the handguard is wrapped with it. it is pretty thin in some places and rapid fire can crack it like a walnut especially if cold outside (ask me how i know) The new polymer lowers have really graduated to the top of the class with the Plum Crazy polymer lowers. all metal guts, made in Lake Havesue Arizona, really nice light upper.
just make sure after long range sessions you inspect the bushy really well. i don't own one today and my LGS has a used one for right at $500 that has been sitting on the rack for over a year.
But hey, it's your gun, have a great time with it, i'm just giving you my .03 and it may not mean a thing!

m&p 15 Sport
Bought a "Sport" a few months ago! Love it. It now has a 1.5X5X40 scope w/riser, green laser, 4 rail forearm, vertical foregrip & BCM Gunfighter charging handle. Yesterday I fell in love with the 15-22 and adopted it. We go to the range tomorrow to sight her in, try to co-sight an old red dot I've had laying around, and then see if she's finicky about any type of ammo. Had her torn apart and cleaned'er up. Hope she's a cheap date!!!

Exactly!!!! The more the merrier. 5.56/.223 ammo is much cheaper than .06 or 7.62X51, so you get more bang (literally) for your buck.........AND the 15-22 is sooooooo much cheaper to shoot.

Your from Mexico? That's cool! I don't know anything about Mex's gun laws. Cool to see you can own a Ruger rifle.

You are correct. Sorry, it's just a remington 700 AAC-SD with some internal work and timney trigger on an AI chassis.

Haha it's really hard to tell what rifle is what since people like adding new stocks to them. My interest in long range shooting has been around only for a few weeks but that style of chassis is my favorite.
EDIT: Holy cow! Do these things go for $800??

AICS 2.0 costs more than that. And it's heavy! Make sure you know what you want before you jump in. Good luck!

I won't have to worry about that for a good while haha. My plan is to get a Tikka in .243 or 6.5x55Swede if Beretta is still importing them & then a .308 win. or something bigger by Savage.

I've shot all of Jon's guns. The 700 is a badass rig! The glass is very crisp and clear. I think his favorite is his "old faithful" DD.

My first firearm ever! 15 Sport 5.56
Only added a few cosmetic parts. I would consider the B.A.D lever a mechanical addition.

I have 2 mini 14's one custom and a Colt Ar-15.
I looked at the S&W stuff but could see no advantage to owning a second AR-15 style rifle.
I purchased my AR because I wanted an representative example of the US battle rifle.
I probably will get tarred and feathered for this remark but I feel S&W is a hand gun manufacture making some of the finest revolvers in the world. Sure they make other stuff, how much of that stuff they actually make vs how much they re brand or simply assemble is a big question.
I am not saying this is bad I personally prefer to own the original and not the copy, even if the copy is better, hence I own the Colt AR-15,A Colt 1911 and I hate plastic guns so no Glocks please.
The S&W people are smart AR's are hot they make an AR
1911 are hot they make a 1911
Glocks are hot they make a glock type pistol.

I respect your views and opinions as everyone has different tastes. While I share your opinions on the Colt AR15 and the Colt 1911(my father taught me to shoot with his 80 series). While not the greatest shooters, they have a sentimental place for me.
I took the liberty of bolding your contradicting statements. A mini 14 is a copied scaled down version of an M14. Not even close to the "original". Just my .02

Thanks man. He picked out the parts himself(with a little fatherly advice lol). You gotta come out to the next competition with us. A big group from Jax usually caravans down. Hit up Jon.

Holding at 2 for now
I resisted the urge for oh so many years. I finally gave in when the Sport came around - it was just too reasonbably priced to pass up.
Then got the hankering for a 20" gun and found a nice used one. I've posted this same pic a couple times - but it's all I've got to show.
Like I said, I'm trying to hold at two .223 rifles for now but you guys are tempting me with all those fine photos!
