Talking First blood with my Performance Center 15-22 (warning graphic)

Well tonight I decided it was time to take the PC15-22 out on a night hunt. Now that its sighted in and been threw a 200rd break in.

As I walk out of the house and round the back of my shed I see 2 rabbits and 6 deer,,, I figure what the hell why not take the shot..

The shot was 121 yards according to Google earth, first shot was an instant kill using cci segmented rounds. Cool,, so I walk up and took a pic as I always do with the first kill for any new weapon I get.

I later got 4 more rabbits being as I got bored waiting on the coyotes to come in,,, sitting here for a few hours with a predator call.... All in all it was fun and now with 5 rabbits to pass out for a few buddies and the rabbit that's in my crock pot,, I gotta say,, you just can't beat a .22lr for a night hunt

Unfortunately IM sure some one will comment on here with a some bleeding heart bs and say IM some kind of bad guy cause I killed thumper but yes,,, varmint hunting is what I love best especially at night and the number one reason I got this rifle

I have sold off all my rimfire rifles long ago,,,, I just got the itch for some thing much quieter than a .223

I know I could use a suppressor but IM not sure of the laws of using one on live game,,, no one care what you shoot paper with.....

Any way this rifle with the segmented ammo is damn lethal

I hope the rabbits don't see your playbook in this thread. They may out flank you and bring reinforcements. Those darn rabbits won't go down without a fight, may even bring their evil friends, the raccoons. Keep your head down and have lots of loaded magazines close by.

Dude, I'm quite sure you shouldn't be shooting that ammo with your PC model.

From CCI's website, "Notes:

its a standard case,, not like the CCI stinger which has a longer case

huh my mistake,,, it was the 40g box i picked up not even noticeing that it said subsonic,, explains why they were so quiet lol,,, your right the lighter load is in the stinger case,, i had to go in my waist ben to see what i was useing cause after looking in to it more it had me worried

I'm not sure about the hunting laws where you are but may not want to be bragging about spot lighting cause it could be illegal. It is in TN.

Spotlighting is illegal in Texas if you are hunting game animals.
He should be ok since he was just murdering rabbits.

Rabbits aren't considered game animals?

Not in Texas. The only game animals in Texas are deer, antelope, sheep, squirrel, and javelina.

Nope I get coons, hog, rabbit, coyote, and when I have a valid furbearing license, fox, cougar, and bob cat..... I love night hunts and take it to heart to know my local laws about it,,, thanks though for bringing it up as its good for others to know that in some places its illegal to use artificial light for any hunt.

That's also why I stated I love "varmint" hunting at night,,, "varmint" meaning not game animal

On the local laws front,,, I can't find any thing that says ya or na bout suppressors being used on a night hunt. If any one u Texans out there know the answer to that let me know

You can use a suppressor for non-game animals.

The state is actually looking into allowing suppressor use for game animals as well.

It would be great,,, when using full power loads its still loud,,, so its not like it gives the hunter any edge on the hunt,,, but it alleviates the need for hearing protection which would be great out in the field when IM using my 30.06

Nobody around my area seems to carry the CCI .22 Quick Shock Segemented ammo. I would rather use that than the MiniMags or even the Stinger ammo I am using now.

If you need reinforcements let us know because from the satallite picture I see a track where they ( the Easter Bunny, Jack Rabbit and Peter Cottontail ) are using the cover of the trees to make a rush on your command post.

Keep your power dry and take no prisoners

I have a hard time knowing the rules cause the TN book is so hard to make out one page states it is unlawful to spotlight any animal, and then another talks about coon hunting after dark and before dawn. I know it is ok to hunt coon with a light but by reading the rule book it makes it seem like it's not.

Sorry to be off topic.

I wished it was legal here.

It is legal to take NON-Game animals in Texas with a legal suppressor.

Wish they would get on the legislation ball and ok it for game animals soon!

Spotlighting on private land (with the owners permission) in Texas is legal. This DOES NOT include county roads and highways. Nor does it include game animals such as Deer. Non-game animals such as Rabbits, hogs, racoons, etc. are legal to spotlight. You must have a Texas hunting license even for non-game animals.

From the Texas Parks and Wildlife website....

"Non-protected nongame animals and fur-bearing animals may be hunted at night with the aid of an artificial light on private property. If hunting at night, please make a courtesy telephone call to your local game warden. "

"Nongame Animals (Non-Protected): Any lawful firearm, pellet gun, or other air gun is legal. ".......If you own a LEGAL suppressor....your good to go.

Well if anybody gives you flack for your hunting, just remind them that it puts food on the table, it's not just a reason to kill something. Most hunters respect animals more then those bleeding heart PETA nazis. Great shooting, and good luck in the future with your 15-22, which might I add is quite gorgeous, looks like a real solid setup you have there :-)
