Really??? its a .22 rifle….. Aren't you not allowed to bring a defensive weapon knife (bayonet) out in public anyways? Here in the great state of Massachusetts bayonets have been banned Wouldn't want anyone to get hurt with a knife on the end of a gun...

Sure...up here in Maine we use our bayonet's to open boxs of 550 ammo packs ...you wouldn't want to get a paper cut opening them...
All kidding aside I don't think the M&P 15-22 has the required bayonet lug on the barrel.
Although the Ruger 10-22 Archangle kit dose come with one
Question is how would you attach one?

Its only funny because its so sad… Were they worried people were going to get robbed at bayonet point?? Here plenty of things have been banned simply because they look "scary"

Well you would have to come up with something that could clamp to the barrel in place of a gas block, some m4 and m16 have them

1 inch scope ring attatched to the bottom rail with a ka-bar works. the blade doesn't stick out as far as a real bayonet would but it looks bad ***

Those Enfield bayonets are some of the scariest bayonets ever made -
You would get a good reaction just duct-taping one to the end of a walking stick. Good to keep the poodles at bay when you are walking your setters.

well,
I have purchased & await delivery of ar15 lightweight lug, similar to the one that Tacksol put a link for.... but its for smaller barrel..
it will need a bit of work to make it fit, but we shall see
I did look at the Brownalls one that bolts on the gas block... as that may work too
so, my project is afoot.. and await delivery before further installments..

Don' think the bayonet will fit right anyway, they're made for a 14.5 inch barrel not 16.

Someone needs to produce a square mount instead of the all traditional round scope mount. These all have the rail accessory so you could also attach a machete to the bottom of the rail.

You're correct, the M7 and M9 bayonets for the M16/M4 rifles are designed for the 14.5" and 20" barrels, but that's only because of the location of the standard front sight base which has the bayonet mount on it. The distance from the flash hider to the bayonet mount on both rifles as the same. The 14.5" M4 has a carbine gas system which is also shorter. Bayonets don't work on 16" barreled AR15's with a carbine gas system because the distance is too long. Some people have resorted to getting bayonets with extended handles. Another solution has been the 16" AR15's with a "mid-length" gas system, which puts the gas port (and standard front sight) about 1.5" forward compared to the carbine gas system and allows the use of a bayonet
I just measured my 16" middy AR15 which has a standard front sight and from the back of the bayonet lug to the 2nd ring from the muzzle on the flash hider is 4 15/16".
On my Smithy 15-22 A1, the distance from the front face of the stock handguard to the same location is 5 1/16".
So regarding the bayonet lug I linked to, it may not fit because of it coming into contact with the handguard. It may still work though if you take the front handguard cap off.
Another option is the barrel mounted bayonet lug from an IMI Galil. Apparently it can accept the US M7 bayonet. The Galil and 15-22 have similar barrel diameters, .719 for the Galil and .700 for the 15-22.

I was working on the bayonet mount project, but stopped. I did come up with a super simple fix for the .223/5.56 AR with the carbine length gas system. Bayonet Barrel Adapter for M7 M9 M10 and M11 Bayonets [BBA-1] - $14.50 : Tacticool22, Tactical .22 Rifle Parts and Accessories You loose a little blade length, but the bayonet does not rattle on the barrel any longer.
That Galil Bayonet Lug will be too loose (about 1/16 inch) until you put the retaining pin in.

The only reason the M4 Carbine has a 14.5" barrel is simply so it will mount the standard M7 bayonet. And so it could use standard M177E2 handguards (AKA "carbine") handguards. The M4 Carbine was a Colt development for the Sheikdom of Abu Daube years ago.
16" barrels in "mid length" configuartion will mount the M7 as well.

will the 15/22's barrel nut withstand the
1) added weight at the end of the barrel without problems?
2)force placed on it when you decide to take out that watermelon or whatever?
3)chopping down small trees for a better shot angle on that bunny?
4)comments of your buds when they see it?
just thinking out loud..

you have to look carefully at the specific laws. normally there are lists of items and you can't have certain features together. but with some creative work around involving a bullet button to make it a fixed non detachable mag, then allowing the addition of an evil feature.

As someone said in the Lounge, "This law has reduced the number of drive by bayonetings in Massachusetts to almost zero.
(As I said, quoting someone else. I can't take credit for that.)

Treetop: K-bar makes a bayo that fits rails, a lot easier than mounting, drilling, screwing, cutting, etc. Just clip it on the forearm rails, no, it will not be exactly like a M-4, but it is not an M-4. Be Safe, What FC do you follow?

yeah... but that aint the same !!!!
it just has to look right...thats all.... I aint going to start chopping trees, bayoneting melons or other stuff.... its a show thing... no different to tactical Crayola ( which is very popular here), changing the Grip / Butt stock...
its all down to taste...
and me... yeah.... I think there is nothing better looking than a fully tact- up weapon, with a lump of shiny out at the end !!! ( and it will scare the **** out the targets) ; ) ...
as for Football.... there can be only one..... North London's Finest... Spiritual home to The Best Modern Footballer in History. ARSENAL ...!!!
ps... the footballer = Thierry Henry
a truly great man, on & off the Pitch... a modern hero for the football generation
pps. . you cant include Pele, he was old school Legend !!

ok,
so quick update...
couldnt get any joy with the barrel adapter...
so,
I have got hold of a front sight post with the bayonet lug...
so I will have a measure up...
chop it down, thread it for a grub screw ( as its for looks... not use !! before some bright spark puts me down !!) , and see...
I believe that the m9 bayonet has / needs 5" between the lug & the barrel loop ... so should be ok
cheers

I don't see what good a bayonet lug on a 15-22 will do you without milling the barrel for an M203 grenade launcher. Obviously you want to be able to provide indirect fire, either fragmentation or incendiary, before you have to resort to stabbing your enemy with a bayonet.
For your own safety and that of your platoon, contact a qualified armorer and get a M203 cutout milled into your 15-22 ASAP.
Lives are on the line!

Off topic (kind of): Brings to mind an arms room inspection yesterday when the BDE S2 told me (Arms Room Officer) and my armorer we have to be PMCSing our assigned bayonets every 30 days. Yeah, ok...
