black dog machine drum review
just my little .02, great mag works wonderful easy to load. light weight a tad heavier than two 25 rounders taped together. like any drum mag, its faster to shoot it than it is to load it. Speaking of loading, it doesnt take that long to load. roughly the same amount of time it does to load two regular mags. not really all that bulky. as soon as i can figure out how to put pictures up i will have a few of the rifle and the drum mag

Here in Commifornia, we only dream of that... But I am assured by our politicans that all criminals that attack us are under 10 thugs per attack, thus the 10 mag will work fine for us poor citizens who have no clue how to handle a high capacity magazine....
I think I know how to fix this law. Have the Police and secret service Officers that secure these same politician only carry 10 rounds, and see what they say... Yea, do what I say, not what I do..

The folks at black dog need to work on a 100 rounder. 50 seems a bit low for a big drum mag.

Round count on the drum isnt what some guys want, but hey its the cool factor that counts for me and the fact my drum works better than a friend promag for the ruger.

Word of caution!
Do not use any chemicals on the Black Dog Magazine(s).
I used M-Pro7 to clean a few of mine (Dedicated .22lr upper) and they were ruined. Little hairline cracks throughout the magazine(s), two actually had the feed lips blow off in the safe.
In talking to BD, the polymer they use is from the bullet proof glass family, they said that most chemicals would harm, only use mild soap and water to clean...
BD replaced two of the magazines, I'm just passing this on to avoid others having the same issue.

@ ChattanoogaPhil got a slide fire before I got the drum. Currently waiting for my new triigger assembly so I can get it working with the stock. Besides near the trigger guard, any other filing need?

Does bolt stay back?
Does the bolt of your 15-22 stay back after the last shot when using the drum?

The Slide Fire V2 (modified version) will work with the winter trigger guard (no filing required). I just completed the installation on my M&P 15-22.

Remington Thunderbolt 40 grain nonplated round nose. $1.94 a box at Wal-Mart (50) that's 500 for $20. Cheap and has a weaker primer unlike the cci which tend to have hard primers that induce multiple ftf because of the lighter hammer spring.

You can also get Federal Lightning at WM. Used to be $1.47/50 and I think it is $1.97/50 now. Fed primers are usually the lightest ones out there.

Anybody found these for any cheaper? $80 seems rediculas for a 50 rounder, I would be all over it for 100 round, but I can buy 4 25 round mags for less than $80, seems kinda pointless when all it would take is a few seconds to pop a new mag in.

In this case you get what you pay for. They are very high quality and you can tell it when you hold it look at it and shoot it.
My mags for my Tactical Solutions 22 1911 conversion run 50 to 70 a pop for 10 round mags. However they're milled out of aluminum and have a slide stop feature unlike most any other "cheaper" mags out there including blackdog.
In the few seconds it takes you too drop and insert another mag I can fire my remaining 25 rounds and be off to reloading again myself. More lead down range. Necessary? Nope...but awesome nonetheless.

So in those two seconds, you have loaded maybe 4 bullets. If I bought 4 25 rounders for less than 80, I could have squeezed off 100 rounds to your 50 minus the 16 bullets you reloaded inbetween each mag drop. Just not addin up to me, like I said if this were a 100 rounder(which doesnt seem all that hard to make) I would be all over this but $80 is just too much IMO.

I'm sayin for the exact same amount of money, I can have 100 rounds loaded and ready to go down range, as you can get only fifty. The only difference is I have a few seconds of reload...thats not worth half the amount of rounds to me.
You guys think if black dog made a 100 rounder it would cost $160? I hope they make one soon

What about a double stack like the one they are making for the Siaga shotgun? That would make a lot more sense

22s can't feed reliably in a double stack mag. That's what hold these companies back. They COULD do it but you'd have a drum the size of a spare tire lol.

If that were the case then why wouldnt you just be using the slide fire on a .223 with a 100 round drum?
The reason 99% of us bought this gun is to both save money and have fun.....I'm tryin to find the happy medium, I'm willing to shell out nearly $600 to make my 15-22 run full auto, but when it comes to a few seconds difference in 100rds down range and saving 80 bucks, I will take the 80. Was just tryin to feel out if anyone had found or made something cheaper or that holds more rounds. I like the reliability and look of the black dog, just not the capacity.
jsha22lr: That looks AWESOME ....but I do see how that would be quite a bit harder to pull off with tiny.22 bullets.

Well the 60 Rd extended AR mag costs $120 and the AK 75 round drum cost over $100 so I would not hold my breath for a .22 drum under $100 if it held 100 rounds. The amount of machining expertise to make something like that run would gaurantee it cost over $100.
My feeling is if you can't afford the cost you are in the wrong hobby. 30 Rd mags for my centerfire race gun cost $100 each and I have 2 of those plus 4 of $60 21 round mags. Of course the gun costs $3750 also. You know the 18 round extentions for the AR PMag cost twice as much as the mag itself. So the dilema for my 3-gun AR is 60 rounds for $120 or 48 rounds for about $42. Decisions, decisions.

Looky here fookers
Blackdog S&W M&P15-.22 50R Drum
This is all I was gettin at, I just don't believe in buyin anything full price that I dont have to. You guys can go ahead and brag all ya want about how much you have spent on your guns, but I bet you give me enough boredom and time on the net, and I will find almost all that stuff for less
PS. Really likin this Joe Bob Site, bought quite a few things from them recently, great customer service.

Here's a VIDEO accuracy test done at 35 to 40 yards. 100 rounds total.
This is the target. I counted around 75 on the paper. Not to bad for ****** ammo and red dot.
