The important question is how accurate are they in your 15-22? And then there's the increased cost over other brands. Do you really need then increased speed? What do you plan to use them for?
Unless they are super accurate in your rifle, they are a waste for plinking or even most competitions.

probably good for varmints, personally I would go with quick shok which are basically segmented stingers.
other than that they are good for making more noise i suppose.

They run fine in my M&P15-22. I got a good deal on 1/2 dozen boxes at my LGS so I bought them. I've not checked them for accuracy against others though. They would be hard pressed to beat the CCI Tacticals.

thank you those of you who answered my question. i only asked because i bought about 100 rounds of them before i had the rifle. its not a performance model. i was simply concerned because the manual says no, and if i can't shoot them i am stuck with them. just wanted to make sure they were safe to fire through my gun before i went and screwed something up.

The manual doesn't say no, it says they aren't recommended. Lots of people use them, as well as the other "not recommended" brands. It they work for you, fine. That's all that matters.

I have used them and they work fine. I only use them for critters and not punching paper where they are more expensive and for paper you can go cheaper. The stinger is better for kills on larger critters like woodchucks/rockchucks and the like size. IMHO I think they are not as accurate as the mini-mags but in my gun there isn't that much of a difference. As far as that goes nothing is that accurate in my gun but what the heck, it wouldn't be sporting if I didn't miss once and a while.
I just use CCI mini-mags for smaller animals like gophers and save the stingers for the big stuff.

So why are they ok in the regular models and not the Performance Center model?
I ask because I have the PC model.

I was going to ask this question when I bought my firearm but then things in my family happened and I never got around to it, so this helped me remember I was going ask and now I have my answer.

For what it's worth, here is a recent thread about CCI Stingers from a forum for one of my other 22s. It includes some info about case dimensions and other data you might find interesting.

I have run a few hundred through my 15-22, and the manual states this "cci stinger brand ammunition Can be used in m&p 15-22 STANDARD model rifles"

QUOTE FROM S&W: Based on the design and action of the M&P15-22, Smith &Wesson recommends that you use the following brands and
types of .22LR ammunition for optimal performance in your
M&P15-22 rifle:
• CCI Standard Velocity • Federal American Eagle
• CCI Mini-Mag • Federal GameShock
• CCI Stinger • Winchester Super-X High Velocity
• Aguila Super Extra High Velocity
• Aguila Super Extra Std. Velocity
So fire away with the Stingers.

Amazing
I've shot everything through my MOE without problems, and I mean everything. The PC 15-22 has a Laney Match chamber and that's the only 15-22 model that has a restriction on CCI Stingers because of their slightly longer case doesn't fit.
Shoot the poop out of anything your gun will eat. Enjoy!

My scientific results with Stingers and iron sights is as follows:
25 yds - Consistent groups about the same size as Mini-Mags
50 yds - Slightly larger groups, but not excessively so.
75 yds - MUCH larger groups and decreased consistency.
100-125 yds - Very large splattering of shots with little to no consistency.
Of course this is through MY rifle and through MY eyes. Under my conditions, I've found the above descriptions to be the norm. I'd feel pretty confident in shooting larger varmits with them at under 50 yards.

I put 100 stingers through my 15-22 yesterday. Ran fine but groups were clearly much larger than the less expensive blazer.

I use the Aguila, I was so impressed with it's accuracy I bought 40,000 for the club, it's by far the most popular round we stock

I never had an issue with Stingers in any .22 I've used. I have had issues with them in the MAGAZINE. In my Colt .22 I could only fit 9 in a 10 round mag. I haven't figured that one out yet.

Unless you have a true match chamber Stingers are fine. Even the PC model that is supposed to be match chamber is sloppy from what I've seen. Easiest way to determine a true match chamber is if the bolt will not extract and unfired round its a match chamber. You won't find many on a sub 1000.00 factory rifle. Much less a semi auto. It's difficult to get a semi auto to run consistently with a match chambered barrel, reason being the dimensions are so exact everything has to be in perfect alignment.
