As a firearms enthusiast (euphemism for gun nut) my advice is to first acquire the Primary Arms M3 clone. At the distance you're shooting, it will work just fine.
Then acquire a .22lr scope.
Use quick disconnect mounts on both. That way it's easy to switch out one for the other. You'll have to adjust zero when you make the swap, but that's no big deal since .22lr ammo is cheap.
Red Dot = Quick acquisition, good for fast pace fire.
Telescopic scope = Easy to see, great for slow pace accurate fire.
