Default Scope mounts

Hi All,

I have been looking at getting a new mount for my scope.

I have a Hawke tactical 30 sidewinder 4.5-14 x 38 really good scope but my mounts are too low.

I have been looking on the Brownell site, and they do a Leupold mk2 30mm mount that looks good, has anyone got one of these mounts ? really want a single piece mount so i can remove and reinstall it with minimum need for re zeroing and without breaking the bank to pay for it.

Also as I am in the UK need a company that will ship here as Brownells do.

Also if anyone knows a co. that will ship mags here that would be fantastic

Regards
Michael

My favorite mount is the Burris AR-P.E.P.R. QD, which I bought on eBay for about $90. It is 1" high from top of rail to bottom of 30mm tube, putting the sight 1.59" above top of rail. A second for me is the NCStar QL Mount, which is 0.05" lower. I bought both, using the Burris on my scope and NCStar (with rear ring removed) on my red dot.

Don't know if this is high enough for you or not. It easily clears my folded MBUS sights, but probably won't clear fixed sights.

I like the Burris PEPR too. It's solid, and I can switch between my dot and scope without the need to re-zero. I've tested it several times in the last few weeks. It comes with picatinny and smooth ring tops so you don't need to have excessive rails everywhere.

Do you have the regular PERP or the quick release version?

Quick release here too. The micro dot is on an ADM qd mount as well.

Do you guys have ay issues with the QD mounts and the M&P 15/22's rails? I heard the rails are a smidge under sized so the QD's wobble. True?

I hadn't heard that, but all the QDs are adjustable. They can be as tight as you need (no need to be excessive against plastic, of course). Mine holds zeros on remounting, which is all I care about.

I have 2 QD's, one NC Star MARCQ & one UTG 3-slot. Both are tight fits and hold zero very well.

Like rraisly said, they can be adjusted. A good QD mount can be adjusted to a specific setting, like the PEPER and the ADM. The PEPR has a pin that pushes out to hold the nut(opposite side of the throw lever) in the desired position. The ADM mount has the nut mounted flush with the base of the mount.

pics to explain it better than I can

Ah. I'd seen, and used that facility on my QD VFG, but I had not though to apply it to the scope QD. Thanks. I'll look at that.
