Hey gang, I'm new here, just registered today and purchased my FIRST firearm last week which was the S&W M&P 15-22 with the Magpul sights from a local arms dealer in West Virginia.

I already went to the range this week and dropped about 300 rounds. I LOVE IT. I already ordered a fore-grip for comfort purposes. I was easily able to take out bottles, shotgun shell boxes at 25 yards. A few at 50 as well... and I mean a few, probably luck more than anything.

Anyways, I was searching on here looking at reviews of scopes, advice, etc. I DON'T want to spend a lot on a scope (over 150-170) and I've been reading a lot of good things on the BSA Sweet 22. I'd like to be able to hit things at least 75 yards out if not more. Does anyone else use this scope and have an personal opinions on it or have a better recommendation?

And Yes, I did use the "search" option on the forum before anyone jumps all over my ***... I just can't find what I'm asking for or need to know.

I got my 15-22 last month and have added a Houge grip and Magpul AFG 2, no scope yet.

I really like the UTG bug buster 3-9x. I like the style and look and you can get it on Amazon for under $100. I have read others saying the sweet 22 is a good scope but don't have personal experience with it.

I like my Nikon. You can get one of their Rimfire scopes made just for .22s in your price range. Mine is a Prostaff 4x32, but a lot of folks here like the P-22.
I used Nikon products for years as a professional news photographer and was pleased to find their riflescopes to be of the same high quality.

My buddy has a sweet .22 on a 10/22 target, I've shot it and liked it, had no problems nailing golf balls out to 80-100 yds.

As mentioned above, the nikon prostaff rimfires are excellent .22-specific scopes and an excellent value for the money.

Another brand to consider is mueller optics, again a lot of bang-for-buck. These are very popular w/ the rimfire benchrest crowd for a budget scope and also have 2 advantages: adjustable objective and true 1/4 MOA turret adjustments. Check out the 4.5-14x40 AO APV for example..

Go with anything not made in China. Nikon has some great optics and most are from the Philippines. Spend your money once and wisely. Good optics are well worth the money. Step up to plate and buy an American made optic for your American made rifle.

The BSA Sweet 22 is a good, inexpensive little scope. Are there better scopes out there... yes but, many of them cost a lot more than the BSA. I have one on a Winchester 52B and really like the ability to shoot at 50 yards, turn the turret, and be on at 100 yards.

The Philippines plants are just assembly plants. Many makers including Nikon and Pentax have used that location in addition to Vietnamese and Malaysian plants. Its like when you look at a Browning Hi-power and see the words "Made in Belgium, Assembled in Portugal" the original truth in manufacturing. As for "American made" optics you will find that most anything under $500 is actually made in China or Taiwan even if it is an American company.
