Your 15-22 will be fine, hopefully the scope didn't take too much of an impact but most likely it will be OK too.

Even w/ all the plastic and aluminium, the AR-15 platform is a pretty rugged weapon. In my 13 years in the U.S. Army, I logged over 250 parachute jumps, the majority w/ combat equipment & weapons. There were even several jumps w/ weapons exposed (this means weapon is secured to the parachute harness & body w/o any protection) insted of using M1950 weapons case. Saw numerous buddies broken & beaten. Even saw one muzzle go clean thru a guys calf muscle. Only once did I see a weapon damaged & it was a bent barrel. Earned my respect & utmost confidence in the weapon system. I would think yours is perfectly fine.

ya id be more worried about the optics being damaged or being knocked out of zero.

Your rifle should be fine. The scope probably got more damage.
Not to get too deep in the weeds, but it's a firearm, not a weapon until you use it as one.

Look it over for any cracks.. and check your scope for zero.. i had a cheap scope on my 17hmr i dropped it gettin it out of the cabnet.. needless to say it got knocked out of zero and cost me to miss a large male coyote

Most firearms are designed to take a knock. They aren't built out of bone china.

If they couldn't take the occasional drop off a table they'd never have been shipped, too many chances for law suits.

Now I wouldn't take a 15/22 that's done freefall from 30 000' but off a table? I'm willing to bet it survived better than the optic did.

This is where "pay for what you get" comes in. The cheaper knock off Aimpoints won't survive much abuse, but the real ones could be thrown around the range, onto hard surfaces, and they'd still work.

But again, most things are designed to be "used", which does involve a certain amount of abuse.

First time I shot my M&P 9C, I went to an unfamiliar range, and put a bit of protective cloth on top of the plastic table to protect my new baby. I didn't realize that the table was much narrower than where I usually shot, and next thing I know, my 9C has tumbled to the concrete floor. GAH! Well, I looked closely, and couldn't even find a dent or scratch, and of course it continued to shoot flawlessly. Whew!

just lucky it wasn't loaded. my understanding is there is nothing preventing the firing pin from striking the rim if enough force is applied even if the hammer doesn't move.

I suppose anything is possible, but even if the mass of the firing pin were sufficient to overcome the spring it would have to land muzzle down to hit the case.

Maybe if you dropped it directly on the muzzle from about 10 feet ...

...Anyway,that's why I always sight in and keep the iron sights on everything I have with a scope. "Loose" the scope,with out a back up your goose could be cooked.

Coltlover66, I know where you are coming from. My years in the army has cemented the word weapon in my mind. My civilian firearms instructor yelled at me for calling it a weapon too, oh well. it is what it is, call it what you want.

My Drill Instructor would be going nuts over this. Next somebody will call their rifle a gun.

I bent a scope on a bolt gun a couple of years ago when it dropped from waist level onto concrete while in a padded case. The damage was not apparent until I tried to sight it in next time at the range. Hope you luck is better than mine.
