Default Aguila Super Colibri Firing test

Hey all, I only recently picked up my 15-22 and decided I'd like to shoot it. I made it out to my buddies very large piece of land and had a go with the Aguila Super Colibri.

Obviously the bullets don't have much range or accuracy, but I was having a blast shooting, even while cycling each round manually.

The Super Colibri was insanely quiet, so much so that no ear protection was even remotely needed, and is certainly more quiet than a pellet gun.

Sorry for the lack of details, just excited that I got to shoot the rifle, and even more so that these rounds are quiet enough to not need the muffs etc. Just plain fun!

Ya know... as much as the Aguila Super Colibri and CCI Quiet-22 interest me, I'm wondering how long it will be till the ATF decides to regulate these? After all how many people are taking advantage of how quiet the rounds are... and shooting them in their basements or in their back yards in the city where they live?

as was posted in this thread, and by me numerous times before they don't have range or accuracy(or a powder charge). its like a pellet gun which are typically less regulated (and probably more accurate/higher fps)

hahah excellent point! Well I hope they dont do that anytime soon, as this is not a round I stock a whole lot of...I think i paid $4 for 50 rounds of the aguila lol...I know the cci quiet is supposed to be around 68db at the ears, but the colibri has to be damn close, around 70db or so at the ears. You know its fun when you pull the trigger and you can hear the bullet rustling in the bushes it just landed in 15 yards away...seriously like a pellet gun, I would even argue it is quieter than some, although the muzzle flash is still ever present. Wanna try the cci quiet next, supposed to have a bit more range, little more accurcy, and shoots 250fps faster at the same db level.

Be careful you don't stick a bullet in the bore. I've shot them myself with no problem but since they're close to a squib round anyway be aware.
Now, on to my quasi-SEAL training with my MKII.

My personal favorite. Hush hush round is the remington cbee..

33grn hollow point 740fps 40lbs muzzle energy so they pack a decent punch for a low power round. And fairly accurate i was poppin the heads off dandelions at 15-20 yards with them, down side there aboit $7-8 for 100
I have no real need for them except self amusement. And cci cb longs are cheaper but not as accurate... id rate the sound level about the same as my daisy 880 powermaster or my p230 co2 pistol

Super colibri is what I shoot in the back yard when I can't get to the ranch or to the range... There great for a quick fix.

I love the aguila colibri, haven't tried the super colibri though. Fun to shoot in the backyard because its no louder than a clap lol. Tried the cci quiet .22 but that still has gunpowder in it so neighbors complained

I thought I'd give feedback in my experience at the range with Super Colibri 22LR 20gr and CCI 22LR CB ammo in my 15-22. I'd bought 500 rounds of Super Colibri and also 300 rounds to CCI 22LR CB and wanted to compare them at the range.

22CB
First I loaded 5 rounds of CB in the magazine and firing each one by manually cycling the charging handle. They were very quiet about the same level as my pellet gun. No feed problems at all.

Super Colibri
Loaded 5 rounds of Super Colibri in the magazine the same way as the CBs. Charged it and them tried to shoot. NOTHING. Looked closer and the round had not fed properly and had not chambered. Manually cycled the charging handle multiple times could not get a single round to feed properly. 100% failure rate. Only way I could have fired it was if I put the round in the chamber by hand which I didn't try.

Summary
I guess I could put each round of Super Colibri in the chamber individually but that it not how I want to use them. I didn't pay close attention how they were sitting in the magazine either so that may have made a difference. I've decided I'll stick with the CB ammo when I need to use it in my 15-22.

Found that colibri are real dirty... gotta clean and lube the bolt often and they'll feed just right... shootem all the time and that was the problem I had with them... also run my boresnake once... last thing I want is a squib... just to be on the safe side...
