Scoped MP15-22
Well I did not like the cheap red dot that was on My MP15-22 when I traded for it so I ordered a set of high rings on EBAY and put a Simmons .22 Mag 4X32 scope on it and off to the in-laws on a beautiful 75 degree day. Much easier for these old eyes to see the bull . Didn't take long to sight the scope in using Federal Bulk from Wally world. Now I need to figure out what to do with the forearm as holding it now is like grasping a cheese grater ! LOL ! Gun again ran flawlessly using 3 in 1 silicone spray ( lightly after cleaning ). And the grandkids had school so Papa got to shoot ! Might look into free floating the barrel, but need to spend more time behind the trigger before I make any changes. since I have the blue trigger springs in this DWP serial # firearm it seems using the search here that the yellow JP springs would not get Me that much of a gain on the trigger ? true or false guys who changed from Blue springs to the yellow ones ? Shot for a couple of hours and ammo costs didn't reach $15 ! Going to love shooting this firearm !!!....WVleo

pick up some ladder rain covers if you want to keep things smaller or regular rubber rail covers for a more round grip. as for the yellow springs, they got me about 1-1.5 lb lighter pull. they're cheap enough that im happy with that but it also gave me the chance to do some light polishing which made everything smoother.

If you don't want to add bulk to the rail, ladder covers are the way to go. I've tried them all and the Surefire ones are my favorite. They have a rubbery feel unlike the Magpul covers, and they are as low-pro as you can get. They also have a concave channel down the middle that's nice to rest your thumb in depending on how you hold the forend.
The JP yellows dropped my pull down about 1lb and are worth it if you don't want to spend a lot on a new trigger (I just like single stage triggers). I took a tiny amount of the sear engagment off and smoothed things out with an fine Arkansas stone. It breaks like glass now, and I don't have any light primmer strike issues. Others have.

They are shorter. I'll measure them in a few.
At that price, you can get six and still not pay as much as most three packs.

Walmart $12.69 ea....5 units to cover the rails on my pop gun..... WVleo You need lower rings to get the center line of the scope closer to the center of the bore.

Actually Dan01 the scope falls right into line with My eye when I put cheek to rifle ( and I'll probally be putting a BSA Sweet .22 on it as I have one of the closeouts on My CZ American and it has been great for $40 scope ! ). The Surefire rails from Primary Arms look like a good buy . Ordering a set now......Leo

Measure from the center line (cross hairs) to the center of the bore...Less than two inches is recommended....When I had my NcStar mounted on my Colt carry handle it was 4 1/2 inches which made zeroing for specific ranges a pain......But it boils down to what ever floats your boat......

i use similar "high" mounts on both my scope and red dot. it just means that i zero it for the specific distance im shooting.

+1 for ladder style rail covers. No added bulk and no real weight to them.
I use the Magpul covers and like them, but I've not compared them to other brands. They seem expensive to me, but did solve the problem.
I use 3 - to cover the top and side rails.

The JP Yellow trigger springs are a good mod to do. Should bring the pull down to the 3-3.5# range. Not as good as a really good aftemarket trigger but comparing $10 vs. $200 has a good price/performance ratio.
If you don't like the stock quad rail go for either the ladder type covers or get Tacticool22s tool and convert it to use other AR handguards and put what you want on it. I tried both and ended up with a different handguard made by Nordic.

the jp yellow springs wont bring your pull down that much unless you use it with their trigger. you'll only see a 1-2 lb decrease in pull usually with a stock trigger.

My trigger pull is right at 4 lbs with the yellow springs. I didn't have a trigger gauge before I changed the springs, but the springs along with some polishing made a significant difference for me and was well worth the small investment in time and money. The polishing took out all of the grittiness that I had.
Certainly not a "target trigger" but I am happy for what I use the rifle for.

thats a great improvement then. i did the yellow springs with some light polishing as well. i erred on the side of caution as ive never done any real "gunsmithing" work. mine went from about 6.5 to 5.5 lbs on average but the smoothness was the biggest change.
