Just picked up a new M&P 15-22 today at Dick's Sporting Goods. I won a gun at a local gun raffle and they gave me a gift card to Dick's. I was torn between a Ruger 10-22 and the M&P 15-22.

One of the things that sold me was the ease of field stripping the M&P. I hope to get to the range tomorrow to try it out.

Any recommendations on scopes and bi-pods?

Default Congrats

Congrats on the 15-22. Which model did you get?

You will need to enlighten everyone on what type of shooting you plan on doing before we can offer suggestions on optics.

I have had the factory open sights, flip up sights, a red dot and for fun I put a 6X24X42 AO target scope on it for one trip to the range, took it back off when I got back home.

Awesome!... Wish i was that lucky... I would buy some mags and ammo and shoot it with irons first... Then decide if your going to hunt with it or just punch paper... Decide after a range trip or two. Enjoy!

I got the standard model 15-22. I also bought three extra magazines. The salesman talked me into buying a TruGlo Tru-Brite Extreme 4x32 Tactical scope but I am going to return it. I paid $99.95 for it and came home and found it on Amazon for half of that. I was thinking about the BSA sweet 22 or UTG 3-12x44 from what I have read so far on here.

I plan on using it at the range primarily or as an economy SHTF weapon.

This was also one of the reasons why I bought mine too.

Default Welcome

Greetings from AZ. You couldn't have picked a better .22. No matter what optic or sight you end up with, get lots of practice and have fun.

I took it to the range on Sunday and only got off about 100 rounds. I am really liking it so far. At 50 yards open sights I had a decent group...at 100 yards I kept them all on the paper at least. It was about 35 degrees when I was there so I might have been shaking a little!
