Default Help locating a 15-22 moe

Hello everyone:

I'm looking to buy a 15-22 moe. I'm not wanting to spend more than $469.99. I know this isn't going to be easy, however I do enjoy the challenge of finding one.

I almost landed one about 3 weeks ago at a local sporting goods store, but just missed it.

I've been watching gunbroker for the last couple weeks and noticed quite a few sellers price gouging from speculation. I started to snap screen shots; recording their names to make sure I'll NEVER buy anything from these crooks; firearms or accessories.

I'm just looking for an honest gun shop (online or B&M) that will give me a fair shake. If not, I'll wait until the first of the year when MANY shops are expecting them in...

Thanks and Merry Christmas to ALL!!!!

I think you are probably going to be out of luck. Most places I see that still have any at all are going to be >$500.

Tanner's Sport Center

I just bought one yesterday for $499 from Ray Tanner at Tanner's Sport Center in Jamison PA. He had 20 black and several Flat Dark Earth versions available when I left. Search for his name on gunbroker.

I finally pulled the trigger and bought one today. I figured with all the feeding frenzy I'd better grab one while I can. FDE MOE version, $545 OTD. The store where I bought it usually has a wall full of black rifles, but no more. They had two black & two FDE. So now I have one and am very happy I bought it. Went to another pawn shop I frequent and scored a 9mm Shield OTD for $400. All in all a good Smith & Wesson M&P day!

Gungenie.com still shows 99+ and the dealers I use all have 'em for way under $500 + taxes.

I emailed them sat. night and received a reply back this morning at 05:30: Sorry, we are sold out. We sold over 20 of them last week.

Thank You
Tanner's Sports Center

I just called Tanners at 08:20 to double check and they do have them in stock, but will ONLY sell local - first come - first served. A little contradicting isn't it????

I'll just wait it out and hopefully find an HONEST dealer!

Honest is not the issue. Most dealers sell below MSRP anyway. This is capitalism at its finest, the law of supply and demand. I notice no one complains that the diamond cartel dribbles them out in low quantities to keep the price up because it is hard to turn a rock over in SA without finding some. At the rate they let them be bought they have at least a 50 year supply in the vaults. Diamonds, based on rarity, should cost no more than about $100 a carat, as opposed to $5000 a carat.
Buying and selling has a lot of hypocracy in it on both sides. When you get the dealer to knock off an extra grand on a car you want at the end of the year it is exactly the same thing as when a new hot model comes out and the dealer has an unmoving price a grand higher than list because he knows someone will buy it. Its hypocracy to think he is dishonest and you aren't. If you want it bad enough no price is too high, but if you don't need it no price is too low. Everything else in between is just negotiation. I have seen $800 ARs get sold for $3000 in the last few days. That might qualify as dishonest but in reality I'm sure they just dropped a price on it to see what people would say and someone actually bought it (it was the only one they had in stock at the time). That means the price was still below what the market would bear. Right now everything is out of balance. Arsenal AKs are listing for $1825 from big name dealers (Impact Guns). Selling them for more when you don't know if and when you will get more is a good strategy to do as those ones you do have will have to make up for the money you don't get when you don't have anymore for awhile.
A dealer friend of mine came to his store Saturday and found a line out into the street. So he put up a sign (true info) saying no more ARs and no more hi-cap mags. Half the line left. Every gun store or gun selling sporting goods store I have been in in the last week has had people come in asking for ARs while I have been there. None to be had. Even stripped lower receivers are going for as much as $500 because once you have one of those registered you can get the rest of the parts to build an AR. I'm just sorry I did not pick up a few more of the FA receivers when I bought one for my second build. I could have built $500 ARs and sold them easy for $1000 or more right now. That is not dishonesty, it is entrepreneurship. Fill a need for something.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I was able to track down a black MOE for $529.99+ tax from a smaller shop today :0

I figured w/ all this hype going on, I might as well get it. I missed the one for $469, missed the one for $499, so I wasn't letting this one get away. I was really excited to bring it home this evening, but was delayed?!?!?

The dealer said it could take a few hours or a few days.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard if you had your Twic, they could scan it and you're out the door since you already had a in depth FBI check? Apparently, whoever said that was misinformed per the gun dealer. Either way, it's bought/paid for and hopefully I can have it by Saturday sometime!!!

I finally got it this morning! Now I'm debating on which scope to get. I was thinking of getting this Aimpoint: http://www.amazon.com/Sports-2-5-10X40-Scope-Green-Laser/dp/B00551H764 or maybe this Bushnell one:

Any input on these scopes would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Here a couple pics of my new plinker.

Even before the rush I never saw an MOE for less than $499.

Your new gun looks great!! I have 2 of them myself, a plain black and a camo. One has an R-1 Aimpoint red dot, the other has a cheap 1x4 scope, they both work great. I'd stay away from the Aim sports one, bad reviews, the Bushnell looks pretty good with better and consistent reviews. Good luck and Happy New Year... I plan on going out with my 15-22's tomorrow in about 20 degree weather, chomping at the bit to shoot...
