I have one and love it but I noticed that they are no longer offered.

What happened?

They are forever making upgrades and coming out with new models.

Got mine. They quit making them quite some time ago. It makes great company with the wife's pink platinum and my RealTree APG carbines.

I contacted S&W and here is their response..

" Very simply, sales. We must make what we can sell, otherwise we would be unable to make anything at all.
"

Not the easiest gun to shoot. The temptation was to put a forward grip on it. Now you have a class 3 weapon. I bought mine because I wanted to have all of the M&P 22 guns. It hardly ever comes out of the safe now. If you have one, it will probably become a collectors item in a couple of years.

i have wondered about the 22p. could you put the 22p upper on a regular 15-22 lower to make a SBR? or did s&w take measures to prevent that?

The uppers and lowers are not compatible with AR lowers and uppers.

Yes, I believe you could. Of course it would be against some silly laws.
