This is what I recently got http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/...nly-ar15-mount I hadn't had a chance to shoot with it yet but over all I am very satisfied. The thing feels extremely solid and it comes in at your price range. They seems to have a great warranty and from what I read people who did have to send them back where treated excellently.
To me a warranty is a big deal. I hope to never use it but if you dont stand behind your product why should I. Vortex Optics - VIP Warranty

Well, you really can't get a decent one in that price range. I think the best value in a red dot is the Aimpoint Pro. If you can only spend $200, you might as well get one for less than $100 and replace it when it fails. I had a Tasco red dot for a while, it was good for range use and never failed but it certainly wasn't combat capable.

Sure he can get a decent red dot in that price range. The Primary Arms Micro Dot, the Bushnell TRS-25.. $200 is a fine budget and I don't think he said "combat capable" was a requirement.

Yes im not looking for combat capable. This gun is strictly for plinking squirel etc. Bought my fiance the pink s&w m&p 15-22 and she hates the irons. Thanks for the input.

For the $200 budget I'd certainly second (or third) either the Bushnell TRS-25 or PA Micro w/ a quality mount/riser. Should bring you in a good bit under unless you're going w/ something from LaRue for the mount.
For the next step up, I'd be looking at the EOTech EXPS 2.0 or the Aimpoint PRO personally, but then you're looking in the $400-500 range.

Spending high dollar for a dot sight for a 22 is just crazy. I put this one on my 15-22 about 3k rounds ago. It still holds zero and works great.
TRUGLO Dual Color Open Red Dot Sight 5 MOA Dot Black
Will mount directly to your scope rail, easy to zero and your field of sight is so much better then the small scope looking red dots.
There are many importers that buy the same sight from China and just put their names on them, so shop around. I just bought this same dot from Amazon for $35 and that included shipping. The green dot is better for bright sunlight, then the red dot only. You will have your choices if you do a search.
Honest, these work great !
Ive got two mounted on both of my competition guns. Ones a rifle and a pistol.

Glad I was able to help.
The high dollar sights are good for higher recoil weapons, this lil 22 will work just fine with a cheaper dot.
Concerning ammo,Thats your next hurdle.
I would hate to be a new 15-22 owner.Have myself a new race car but I cant buy any gas.

I've got the Bushnell TRS-25
on its way from Botach right now. I also ordered the 1 inch riser so I can 1/3 co-witness with my iron sights. Total was 88 bucks with free shipping. The Bushnell has a 3moa red dot. Anything bigger than that is too big IMO.

Another vote for Bushnell TRS-25 or Primary Arms.

The cheapest green/red dot that's usable for up to 50 yard work is the Tasco 42mm tube...big tube, great for older eyes and getting use to 2eye shooting.!!! with a 5 MOA dot... you can pick it up at just about every Wal-mart I have been in for $42 plus tax...has held a zero so far... NOT the best one by far... but I have 6 rifles to outfit and I am going to try a range of optics... and it will always be a cheap backup If I replace it with a higher end unit...
I also have a Vortex Strikefire coming, Am looking at a Bushnell TRS-25... The one I really want to test drive is a Lucid HD7....have heard a lot of good from those that have it...waiting for the Gen2's to be shipped in... and under or right at 200... plus it has a 2x magnifyer you can buy and screw onto the unit...
HTH,
Paul

I have used one of these on my 15-22 to finish in the top 23 of the last 2 Ruger Rimfire World Championships, finish 1st or 2nd in regional tier II Steel Challenge Carbine Open division events and sweep the last 3 years of my clubs rimfire rifle division speed steel matches.

It's looking more and more like I'm going to be grabbing a SPARC and a QD mount to share time on my 15-22. P-22 for bench/long range stuff and the SPARC for steel/shorter range plinking. The only think that I'm not too sure about is the kinda small tube size.
Unfortunately I think my TRS-25 is actually developing battery contact problems after only ~1250 rounds on my 22/45. The dot cut out at least 6 times in ~300 rounds at the range last night and would come back on if I tapped the side of the housing. Gonna have to try playing around w/ stretching out the spring or creative shimming tonight to see if I can avoid having to send it to Bushnell...

Copied from one of my earlier posts:
Have a look at this review before you make a final decision. I too was debating between the PA and the SPARC but then stumbled upon this nice little optic.
LUCID HD7 Red Dot Sight Review - YouTube
I have to say that I am very happy with it. Just the other day I accidentally dropped my 15/22 right on the Lucid red dot from about 5ft up onto the hardwood floor. I was devastated. However to my surprise it still powered up and held center. I can guarantee that the PA and the SPARC would not have functioned after that kind of a drop.
I also really love how you can change the reticles unlike the others. The 2x magnifier is also a huge plus for those distance targets (the SPARC has this also).
Finally, comparing it to my Eotech 512 that's on my M4 I'd have to say that the Lucid takes the cake. I like the 1 MOA dot of the 512 (compared to the 2 MOA on the Lucid) but other than that I'd prefer the Lucid. (durability, crisper RD, longer battery life, 2x magnifier, customer support, etc...)
Just my 2 cents (and no I'm not affiliated with Lucid in any way)

That's funny, I was actually just checking reviews on the Lucid based on the input of one of the guys at the LGS.
Looks like the stock mount is already supposed to be lower 1/3 co-witness. Is it QD or is there an easy way to mount it on an aftermarket QD mount w/o jacking it up too high?

Another thing to mention about the Spark is, you will have a tuff time locating batteries locally. I had to get mine off Fleebay. The on off button is easy to trigger in the case and it has an extra wide profile. So it dosn't diassapear completely when sighting.
