Price of ammo in my town...
Yeah I know another ammo thread. This isn't a rant, just sharing what I found today. First time i've seen .22lr in probably over a month and they would only let me buy two packs.
Note the price!

Not horrible at all for CCI mini-mags. Not great either. Last time I bought them they were in the $8 range. But it's really good ammo and mostly what I break my new guns in with. Then I go to the bulk stuff

well I guess that's good to hear, I thought they may be way over priced. I just couldn't leave them on the shelf.

On a related note, I noted Walmart Federal 550 bulk packs went up almost $2 each. Of course they didn't have any instock. But that's what the sticker said.

Beat $1.10 - 1.20 per round that .223 or 5.56 is going for at places !! MiniMags are my favorite .22lr round, and I would pay that for a box.

How many rounds of these will you shoot to break in your new gun? I just got a 15-22 and haven't shot it yet. I guess I need to get some of these. Not sure what my local Walmart would charge.

CCI it what some people use to "break in their 15-22" i used federal bulk 550 box from walmart. 3000+ rounds later, not one single problem, meybe 4 FTF out of that many plus not including what my wife's shot with her 15-22. Use what you can get. You don't just need to use CCI ammo to shoot or break in your rifle.

I use an extra special top secret "break-in"...I take it out out of the box, clean off all the excess oil and lube...then I shoot the everliving **** out of it.

I bought 2 boxes of Federal Target Grade Performance, 325 rounds per box, for $20 per box at Gander Mtn 2 days ago.
That is the regular price I think.

I just picked up my gun this week and went ammo hunting tonight. I'm happy I found this forum! Wondering if I should go back tomorrow and get more of any of these. I see the Mini-Mags are liked here, any of the others? Now if I could only find some extra mags. lol
Winchester Super X HP 50 pack = $3.25
Winchester Super X Super Speed RN 100 pack = $7.25
CCI Mini-Mag 100 pack = $7.25
CCI Stinger 50 pack = $5.25

I got 4 of the 325 round Federal boxes at the gun show yesterday for 35 each. Expensive but I haven't hardly shot this gun since I bought it and the slide fire. Went out and dumped a few mags through it yesterday afternoon.

Are we getting that desperate to buy ammo? I use "we" as a broad term but it seems that some are paying WAY too much for ammo. Me, I refuse to pay such prices I have enough saved up so I think I will wait. I will remember the shops and sites though and come hell or high water I won't set foot in those stores again.

Wish I could have found some at a decent price but after looking in dozens of places and finding nothing, I bought it when I found it. Wish I had a stock pile of it but I don't.

I'm hoping that after the crazy buying rage settles down the prices come back to normal. I'm afraid that were "demand"ing ourselves into artificialy high prices. Even if the goverment
does ban weapons and mag, they will still produce ammo at the same rate. People PLEASE settle down.

No disrespect meant. Yes over a period of time I bought a box or two when finances allowed and so yes I have a small stockpile and it's nothing huge but it fits my needs. I do feel for anyone who has bought a new firearm (new gun owners) or didn't stock up for whatever the reasons but we as gun owners are doing this to ourselves with the panic buying. Yes the .gov has set a negative tone but in the end we are the ones cleaning the shelves.

At those prices, it's the reason my 15T is now mothballed in the back of the safe.

Federal bulk
Found yesterday at local gun shop 500 pack of federal bulk LR for a mere $45/pack. Seems a bit steep, but since there is mostly none to be found......

After reading this I went and checked my supply. My grandsons hate to stop shooting when we go to the range,so do I,so I try to have a lot of ammo on hand. I found 8 1/2 boxs of Federal and winchester 555 rounds, 5 1/2 boxes of I think 325 rounds of Federal Auto Match plus 600 rounds of Federal gold medal and a few hundred rounds of other target grade 22 cal. I guess thay will be able to have a little fun this summer. I feel as a grandfather it is my job to have plenty of ammo for range trips.

$60 for 550 round bulk packs
I was at a large gun show this past weekend and only 3 vendors had any .22 LR ammo. One had a couple of 50 round boxes that he had marked at $10 each. The second had a brick of 500 with no price on it, and I didn't ask what he wanted. The third had 6 Federal Bulk Packs of 550 that also lacked a price. So, I was talking with the 3rd guy about the current state of ammo availability when a man and 2 young kids came up to the table and said he wanted to buy 2 of the bulk packs so his sons could shoot that afternoon. He paid $120 for the 1100 rounds and gave each boy one bulk pack and away they went as happy as could be. The vendor made the comment to me that after he sold these 6 bulk packs, he didn't expect to have any more .22 LR ammo for several months, unless he bought it from his customers.

I was at the Weber Range in Troy,Texas and they have been out of 9mm for two weeks. While at the table behind the line I had two shooters ask to buy the 50 rd. box of Monarch(I bought for $12) I sold three box's for $20 a piece.

OP-
That is an outrageous price on the CCI ammo. Its good stuff, but dang, that's pricey. I know AR Tactical (hate that name) is bulk packed, but I just bought 3750 rounds for 5.6 cents/round shipped.

Found .22 ammo ay my lgs
My LGS had about 8 bulk packs of Federal for $25.99, not too bad at all. I am pretty well stocked on .22 ammo so I didn't buy any. I did buy some Tula 7.62x39 for $5.99 a box, my wasr loves it.

Every WallyWorld in central Florida is out of .22LR, and just about everything else. No LGS in a 30-mile radius had any until today, when I found one who had just received a shipment. They had upped their price on everything by 15%, making the boxes of Federal bulk $29.95 now. Not horrible, but not great by any means. My dumb self paid $50 for 550 rounds of Federal at the gun show in Jax this past weekend and I'm seriously regretting that. Should have saved the gas money on top of that, but there was no ammo to be had anywhere near me and the old lady wanted to go shooting worse than I did. Happy wife, happy life!

It's interesting that as of yesterday, Cabela's shows NO Federal of any kind on their web site. Never seen that before.

I called my local Cabela's phone number the other day and instead reached Nebraska, 1100 miles away. When I mentioned that I was looking for ammo and magazines, she said that the website was experiencing update problems and the only way to know for sure about available inventory was to go into the local store.
I thought that was kind of an odd thing to say since I wasn't placing an order on-line and the whole point of the call, as I initially explained, was to talk to someone local. She wasn't going to connect me to the local store until I mentioned how many miles I would have to travel to get there and back. The call was finally allowed to be transferred.
When an employee answered the phone I explained what I was looking for and he said that the "well was bone dry" (his words). That, those items could be on the next truck, he didn't know, because they weren't telling him anything and he was at the mercy of the warehouse.

I usualy always tell folks I'm more of a "plinker" than anything else. However...since the new ammo dissapearances, I've become an avid hunter! Yes...I hunt ammo! The current "Ammo hunting season" has been hit & miss in our region too. Sure don't have to worry much about going over your limit...just finding the elusive critters! It's good to see all of your "hunting pictures" showing that there's still some CCI, Federal bulk out there roaming the wilds! Those shots give me hope and keeps me hunting!

I bought 2 bulk boxes of CCI/Blazers for 21.00 each at a little LGS yesterday. The two boxes was their limit per customer a week. I wasn't crazy about the limit but I was sure glad to find 'em! I decided to check another less known shop and they had Federal 525 bulk for 23.00 a box. Their limit was 1 box. It was far from a wasted trip but I sure would've liked to come away with a bit more. Might have to pay them all another visit next week.

I'm ready for all this to be over. I'm driving myself crazy trying to find .22s. Those two packs of cci are the only thing I've seen in awhile. I have some Remington GBs but they are incredibly dirty and the S&W manual doesn't recommend them. I'm about to go strictly 12 gauge haha time to break out the Mossy

It's made me break out the 870 but even target loads are starting to creep up in price around here. Still plenty on the shelves but selection is down a little and you pay an extra $1-2 a box Good thing my old shoulder can't take as much as it used to
In one of my drive by searches to a local Walmart today, I did pick up 5 100 round boxes of 9MM Winchester white box for $23 each. Pleasant surprise as I haven't seen 9mm in weeks and even more pleasant that the price was reasonable. I left some on the shelf for others. Second guessed myself all the way home

I have a M&P .40 and I did the same thing the other day when I came across some 40s at my Walmart. I bought four boxes but I should have gotten more.

I have not been able to find .22 LR anywhere.
Stopped by Wal-Mart last nite after work, on a whim checked in sporting goods and picked up one box of Winchester 555's. Only box on the shelf.
Maybe we'll start to some new inventory trickle in now.
I gotta think that CCI and others are working overtime to get product out the door....

Got lucky and found some more at the same gun shop, this time they let me buy 4 packs. The price seems a little steep
