"Gritty" trigger???
Hello everyone, 1st post, but been lurking for awhile. Question, has anyone else disassembled their 15-22 trigger to find the assembly was full of grit? I have a factory camo 15-22 and was wondering if the camo dip had something to do with the grit in the trigger. It was almost as if my rifle had been dropped in the sand. Anyway, I completely disassembled (it has the blue springs) and cleaned and polished the surfaces with a dremel buff. I just purchased another one yesterday (this one black) and hope it doesn't have the same grit...

Standard operating procedure on any new firearm is to strip it and clean it and then properly lubricate it - before the first trip to the range.

I agree, but I didn't ask what was SOP. I asked if anyone else had found a sandy gritty substance in their gun and if the camo dip possibly had anything to so with it.

My apology ...
I have no idea whether the dip has anything to do with it or not. Doesn't really matter - you have to clean it out, one way or the other.

My Pink one had a good amount of the grit in there also, but all my grit was pink in color.I didnt bother clean first. Bought it, ran to the range and shot a few 100 out of it. Then cleaned it when I got home.
Noticed everytime I shot it, had more pink flakes come loose , but less then at first. The flaking finally stopped, but it took a few range trips to do so. Also noticed that the finish inside the lower was a lot rougher then the exterior.
Your camo finish is probably the same as my pink and just coming loose, or knocking off the high spots.

My non-camo version seemed to have a fair amount of debris in it new too. Looked like cardboard dust from the packaging.

yes mine also has this grit. i thought it was grit-like gunpowder at first. it seems to be some kind of paint overspray or something as it would not come off when i tried rubbing it away with cleaner. manufacturing probably cut a corner when painting that cavity. i am not worried about it.

Mine also appeared to have several thousand "Cardboard rounds" sent thru it.

As Majorik stated, you should always know what you are shooting before you take it to the range and the best way is to clean and inspect it before using it the first time.
