I just bought my M&P15-22 yesterday and the gunshop handed me two boxes of 22lr. After further inspection I seen that they gave me one box of CCI Varmint: CCI Ammunition - Product Detail

and one box of Standard velocity: CCI Ammunition - Product Detail

I read in the owners manual not to use stinger, the varmint round appears to be the same.

I have a 15-22 with a s/n starting with DYX. Should these rounds be safe to fire the 50 i have or should I just sell them for 10 bucks and not take a chance with it.

Re - read the manual. You can use CCI Stingers unless you have the Performance Center version of the M & P 15 - 22. Look under your ejection port..... if it doesn't say Performance Center you're good to go.

I have 200 of the varmint rounds....haven't shot them yet though.
