I got this model and I do not see anyway to access the threads on the barrel. I was told that the threads are cap to protect them, but nothing? A little help here please.

Thanks
Dave

Is there a flash hider on it? If not there is a cap that covers the end of the barrel, just like a pipe thread protector. It screws off. That is, presuming the barrel is actually threaded.

No it is solid. The barrel is fluted to about one inch from the end. Looking at the bore, it looks like a barrel within a barrel and the inner section is slightly recessed.

Nope, no barrel liner on the 15-22, any model. If the end is solid, there are no threads to access. Model 170335 is threaded, 170337 is non threaded. Which one do you have?

Potshot, I linked a pic for you in the M&P 15 rifle forum thread. If it doesn't look like that pic, you don't have the threaded barrel version.

It was the big selling point with the dealer. I think we need to have a sit down. Thanks for setting me straight. I never realized there were two model of PC.
Thanks, Dave

Used to be there was only the threaded barrel, adjustable stock PC model 170335. But I guess they had complaints from the compliancy states so they made one with an unthreaded barrel and a pinned stock, 170337. Guess they should have let us all know about it.

Well at least I was able to fix the pinned stock issue. All in all I still like this 15-22. Even though I was with two other guys when I bought it, the dealer said "I never said it had a threaded barrel".

That's why you always do a personal inspection of any firearm before you purchase it. :)

If you do not like the non-threaded look, you can add one of these shrouds. I added one and like it very much, although it is pricey.
