Received the brass deflectors the other day, but have not been able to go shooting... still recovering from surgery, and things are very painful right now. I hope to go VERY soon! If mine work like what the others have said, and like the previous 45 degree prototype, I expect to be very happy!
Thanks for allowing me to test these, and I apologize for the delay in testing. Meds do not mix well with driving and firearms! I'm really hoping to visit the range next week.

Made it to the range today, and was able to test the 45 degree deflector. Sent ~300 rounds down range without a single failure! :-) Started hurting after that, so I left. Hope to get back there in a few days to test the 25 degree.

Good to hear the positive results!
Freeway, I am really glad to hear it's working for you. Don't be in a rush to get back to the range, heal up and feel better bud.

Thanks! My neck looks like it has been put through a sausage grinder, and feels like it was hit by a train. Slowly, things are getting better though.

Was able to hit the range again today and give the beta 2.0 brass deflectors another work out. I was able to shoot 250 rounds with each deflector, (500 total) and very happy to report another flawless performance. I shot both high velocity and subsonic and both types brass left the rifle with authority. I also shot some left handed and on this range session I had only one piece of brass hit my right forearm with the 45 degree deflector.
Which leads me to another observation. The brass leaving the rifle with the new deflector leave with some force where the older version with the slots, brass on occasion would dribble out. Leading me to believe the brass is bouncing around with the old version and only making one bump with the new version (a positive thing)

Love the results of these new deflectors! ~500rds downrange, nary a problem with bounceback. Nice little piles of spent brass!

Results on the new and improved brass deflector sounds promising. Is there any estimate on when they will be available for sale?

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other testers. After that it will take several weeks to have the parts made. A very rough estimate would be 4-8 weeks.

hi SWS
I just wondered if you will be in contact with purchasers of your original version or do we have to drop you a mail once your current testing is completed ?
cheers

I will be sending out emails to those that are having issues.
Just a reminder, if anyone is interested, they can be added to the notification list once the new deflectors are available by sending an email to [email protected]

Just wanted to check in the testers and see how the new deflectors are holding up.
I am planning on getting a production run going towards the end of the month for the 25° brass deflectors.

I've only had one chance to get to the range since my initial test of the new iterations and all was still well.

No issues here.
The last time I was out I only out two mags through my 15-22. I got a couple new rimfire rifles in the last two weeks and those have been eating up all the ammo.

Here's my very overdue range report. I tried the 45 first and it was flawless. I skipped straight to rapid fire and my Slidefire since I couldn't stay long. I put the 25 on and shot a few rounds with it and really liked the neat pile of brass. I emptied 2 mags with the Slidefire and had no bouncebacks. I let a boy who was there shoot a couple more mags through it and he had one bounceback but I suspect that was because he tilts the gun even farther to the left than I do. I shot a couple more mags with the 25 on there and it was flawless once again. I consider both to be a complete success.

Tried the 25 degree deflector today. Went through 100 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag and 150 rounds Federal Champion with no defects!

Awesome!
I am moving forward with the production run. A rough estimate, with lead times and the holidays a would be mid January before they are available.

It sounds like the new design will significantly reduce bounce backs and make this product even better. Thanks for sticking with it.

Quick update for everyone.
I have the 25° mounts on hand, and am now just waiting for the deflector shields to show up, which should be soon.

The brass deflectors are going out for anodizing early next week. I expect to have them on hand and ready to ship 1-2 weeks after. It could be sooner or later, just depends on how busy the coating shop is, and this is a very large batch of parts to be anodized.
I will be contacting current customers that are having bounce back issues and those on the notification list first. Couple of days after that, I will start a new thread announcing the availability of the new brass deflector design.
If you are interested, you can be added to the notification list once the new deflectors are available by sending an email to [email protected]

Would like to thank SWS. Just got yesterday my replacement brass deflector and will test as soon as I can. Im sure it took time, effort and money to get these out. This is the mark of a true and honest person running a good honest business and as many times I have the need I will give SWS my business. Thanks...

I greatly appreciate the kind words. I feel that sending out replacement brass deflectors, free of charge, is the least I could do. And a big thank you to everyone that has been very patient and understanding while I worked to find a better solution.
The new brass deflectors are available and I have started a new thread for them.
