M&P 15-22 current market price?
Hello All,
Please pardon my noob question, I participate in other areas of the S&W forum, mostly having to do with M&P pistols and competition shooting. And I think it's painful every time some Joe writes one time asking 'is this a good price or not'...
So, I hate to be a hypocrite but that's my purpose of writing... I'm sincerely sorry if this is annoying to anyone...
The good news is I'd very much like to ioin this part of the S&W family, but I need to buy-in first, so to speak.
I have the opportunity to purchase a slightly used 15-22 from a local resident...
The rifle is a stock 811062 with 100rnds through it... Condition is excellent.
Asking price is around $600.
I can see MSRP is $520. I've never bought something over retailer cost; is this a 'fair' price or more of an inflated 'market price'?
I have no reason to think the seller is trying to turn a profit; I get the sense that he just wants something different or out of the 22LR rat-race we're all experiencing right now...
Any input or guidance would be very much appreciated... I can see on gunbroker right now there are two of these for 300 bucks, but the auctions aren't ending for a few days so that really doesn't tell the tale...
Thanks so much for any tenured advice, I really appreciate the experience...
Cheers,
Sal

M&P 15-22 current market price?
Just bought one a month ago brand new for $430+tax from my local gun shop. So I'd say that was a little much for a used one

I have to sgree that $600 is high. You should be able to find a new one for around the $450 mark. Good luck. You'll find it's one of the most fun .22s you've ever fired ... if u can find the ammo!

M&P 15-22 current market price?
Hey Guys,
Thanks so much for the input, that sounds like about what I expected... I'm sort of disappointed, I really want to buy it but not at an inflated price... I can wait out the storm until more units fly off the factory lines and just buy a new one for less $$.
I'll ask the seller why so high, maybe there's something more to the deal than I'm seeing... Wish me luck!
Thanks again!
Best,
Sal

Personally ---- for the money I would consider a new 811034 or 811035 MOE Version. You can find them now trickling into LGS for $550-$575. There are several now on GunBroker in "Buy it Now or Fixed Priced" auctions for under $580. When you compare what you get with the MOE (Magpul Stock, MBUS Sights, etc.) it's well worth going that route (if you choose to add the same stock, sight, grip later you will spend $200 on the Magpul parts). Once you get your new rifle you will need magazines. Your best bet if you want to stick with OEM factory magazines you should call S&W. They will backorder magazine orders and not bill your CC until they ship (June / July) was the projected shipping dates.
Check out GunBroker if you can't find one locally. Search "811034", "811035" or "15-22 MOE" and you can find the available rifles.

M&P 15-22 current market price?
Thanks again...
I'm really looking forward to getting one... I own an M&P22 pistol which is just a blast to shoot... And it keeps me in practice for the 40c and 40 full size. I'm a all-out M&P junky... I just think S&W is a remarkable engineering firm and excellent about supporting their products...
Anyhow, I have a 223 AR (non-smith, so sad) already and while I love it too, gets expensive plinking with it... And it's just an aggressive rifle to shoot as much as I like... So, a 15-22 would be ideal...
I'll call around tomorrow to see if I can find any new 15-22s, and I'll ask this seller why the higher price...
Have a good night, I'll follow-up, hopefully with some pics...

M&P 15-22 current market price?
Hey RP,
Thanks for the direction, I definitely see the upside of getting the upgraded sights and stock... Now that I saw those models, I can't even think about having anything less... I'll find one within the week. I'm lucky that a travel from time to time so calling ahead to listed dealers on S&W's site usually helps me find what I'm looking for with too much hair loss...
Thanks again, these just look like so much fun..
Stay tuned...

3 weeks ago I got the MOE version with the magpul stock, Magpul sights for $600 in value which was the MSRP as part of a trade and I walked away happy. I dought if I would have valued it more then the MSRP when doing the trade.

Origianl owners of S&W M&P firearms get a limited lifetime warrenty. I am sure that used 15-22 would not. Be sure to regester your new purchase with S&W for any and all warrentys. I have had extractor problems with my 15-22, just sent it back to S&W on friday. They do have exelant customer service on warrenty repair. Cant wait to get mine back fixed. Good luck in your search and welcome abord.

Olde English in Vandalia Ohio had 4 on the shelf and more in the back. I think the MOE versions was about $569. If you are in the area give them a try. Pricing and support are typically very good. They also had ar15 mags in stock and had reasonable price on them.

It's kinda don't ask, don't tell. S&W is fantastic about backing up their products.

Also found a lonely plinker tactical 35 round magazine. I spent $30 and took the poor thing home.
Edit: my Bad $565 :S

Sent an email to a LGS I've been meaning to check out last night. Their web site is a mess and in need of a major overhaul and didn't even indicate that they really had a retail space (with a name like LowPriceGuns.com you have to wonder, though it's what's on the front of the building, including the .com). Had a reply this morning that they had 1 black MOE for $499 and a stack of FDE MOEs for $549. Managed to get to them a couple minutes before closing tonight. Unfortunately the black MOE was gone. I went ahead and helped shorten the stack of FDE MOEs by 1. The FDE look is quickly growing on me. Anyhow, if anybody else is looking for a FDE MOE as of now they have 6 or 8 on the shelf and most certainly do ship. They had some non-MOEs but I didn't even ask about pricing on those.
They also had a M&P 15 Sport on the wall at $899 (plus an assortment of other S&W and non-S&W rifles). I'd like to get one eventually but am fine to wait for things to calm down to get a sub-MSRP deal on that. They did say they're having a big "black gun" sale tomorrow (asked about the .22LR I was buying but they said larger caliber stuff only) though I've already overspent my firearms budget over the last couple months so I won't be going to check that out. I will be visiting them more in the future, though!
Also, they said the website is being overhauled and will be much more useful soon.

Last night my usual LGS had 2 free state NIB MOEs (811034) for $600 and 2 NIB Standard (811033) for $480. Pretty much same pricing as last November before things started getting really crazy. Then again they're also starting to get a pretty impressive (compared to the past few months anyways) stock of .223/5.56 ARs and components in as well.

I also live close to Old English and they have a website: Olde English Outfitters | Quality shooting and hunting equipment, Dayton Ohio
They normally ship firearms out but due to the overwelming demand of firearms they will not ship any out other then the ones on their auction sight. There is one on the auction sight right now but it isn't an MOE model though.

I bought mine monday and paid $485. I might have been able to get a little cheaper somewhere else, if I could find it. But the dealer I got mine from is VERY reputable and great to deal with.

M&P 15-22 current market price?
I just noticed the FDE MOE version, I like the 2-tone... I'm still looking for one in-stock locally (northeast PA), I'm hoping not to have to wait months and months or pay thru the nose from gunbroker, etc.
I looked at lowpriceguns like was mentioned above, but I didn't see any available... Maybe I was missing something?
Anywhere else you suggest me looking? And would you think 550 is a good target price?

Just paid under $530 for the MOE version at a LGS in Des Moines. Moved the sights to a full bore version and mounted an old Ulta Dot on it for my kids to shoot.

Their web site is very broken right now. I'd send them an email or maybe call during normal hours (11-6 Pacific Monday to Saturday). I almost didn't even email with as broken as it is but I'm glad I did!

I signed up at:
gunsamerica.com
Good browsing. Use the filter on the left margin for specific items.
22LR is still above $0.10 for REM Golden (cheapest I found - on gunsamerica.com)
Remember the (relative) cost every time you (or your son) fire each round of a M&P 22-15.
The fever will break in 2016.

I bought my Black MOE for 499 shipped from Grabagun.com last month. Looks like price has gone up slightly since then but there are deals out there if you are patient enough

Good thread .. I'm lookin' too. Here's the current 12 SKU's and their respective MSRP's.
M&P15-22 .22 LR - Smith & Wesson
I have seen/followed one .. SKU unknown .. was asking $1,000 first of February .. now asking $450 Sellers should maybe list the SKU .. ya think?

Check out Piestrak's in Nanticoke,PA. I picked up my NIB 15-22 for $489 + tax last month. They had two M&P 15-22 STD Models in stock on 26 MAR 13. Despite the current insanity & local/national demand, the owner still discounts the MSRP off every product he sells. I just picked up a S&W M&P 22 pistol for $339.00 + tax.
All things considered, I prefer to keep my hard earned money working in the local community when possible.

Well, the price at Grabagun actually gone up a bit, I just recently (3/27/13) purchased a standard model 811030 non threaded version there for $495 after taxes. I was hoping to get a magpul version but they don't have it instock

yesterday went to my LGS for my weekly ammo check and just as I was being let down by the usual "maybe next week" I notice a fresh looking 15-22 on the wall with a $325 tag. Barely used (still smells like the cardboard it was born in) with a nice bipod...and as I signed away the owner pulls out a fresh Allen bag it came in.
Now instead of 9mm the ammo hunt switches to 22lr.
So the deals are out there still, just don't settle for more than $450 -$500 at most

Seen NIB threaded barrel versions for $479 at gun show in dayton Ohio. They had plenty. I overpaid for mine @ $550 due to my lack of patience.

I was floored when I saw one at wal-mart for $449. I didn't have the cash or I would have grabbed it.

Hey Cranelec,
I'm a NEPA guy, been going to Piestrak's for quite some time. They're a great family and a great business to patron. I've put my name on 'the list' for an MOE the next time one arrives. I'm still not going outside just yet (where the hell is spring?) so I have some time until I get desperate and go for an auction one... 550 plus 30 shipping and 40 FFL transfer is just too much... And I'd rather give Piestrak's the business, great group of folks there...
LMK if you see any other MOEs in your travels, Thanks!
