Smile NDZ speed bolt release

Gotta say the guys at NDZ you cant beat them on customer serves. I ordered the SBR on Saturday and and Monday it said it shipped. On Thursday I was worried if it got mixed up in the mail, because I live in apartments . Woke up and called NDZ , They were very helpful , they checked the tracking and said it was out for delivery and gave me the Tracking #. One hour later the mailman showed up and there it was.

Wow , the engraving looked cool and was what I ordered. Installation was easy. Just split the upper and lower , use the allen wrench provided and I suggest use a drop of thread locker. It fit like a glove , looks great and function as intended dry cycling the action . Going to the range in the morning and will see how it operates under live fire.

I spoke with the guys at NDZ prior to purchase and asked about the spring cutting and the told me it should not be a problem . My rifle is very new and I hope to have no problems.

Will update when I get back from the range.

Three mag changes and you'll never want to go back to the paddle again.

Spend the money and buy the oversize mag release button, charging handle and latch, as well.

Great company and great products.

Looking forward to hearing your update. I've been itching to go out to test mine also but go figure...when I'm free, it's been too cold.

Default NDZ speed bolt release

Looking forward to the update as well. Was looking into a Magpul BAD lever but from what I've read it takes a little modification to work right on the 15-22. I'd rather just buy something that worked right out of the box

Jack80, you can take it from Majorlk and myself (and soon, oc_randy) that the NDZ SBR is a quality made, perfect addition to your 15-22. I love mine. It worked just fine for me without needing to cut the bolt catch/release spring, but I did it anyway "just in case". :-)

The only stupid question is one that isn't asked. The old SBR weighed a bit too much, and would not allow the bolt to lock back on the last round. The new one is lighter, so you SHOULD'NT have to cut the spring to lighten the spring. If you find that your bolt isn't locking back, cut two turns off the spring behind the bolt catch/release paddle.

With the SBR and the oversize mag release button, you can drop an empty mag and drop the bolt on a full one without moving anything on your shooting hand except your trigger finger.

I got the latch, and I feel Im ok with the handle but I've been considering the mag button. My factory mag release feels good works smoothly and feels natural with the motion.

It will still be smooth, just a bigger "target" for your finger. And you'll find it easier to push. I've put them on all three rifles I have bought. Personally, I like the serrated button rather than a smooth. So do my two grandsons, who have the other rifles.

Are the buttons easy to install or would taking the rifle to a smith be required?

They are easy to install. Just use the flat end of a pen to push the button all the way in. This will allow you to unscrew the magazine catch from the other side. Put the new button in, again, pushing with a pen, screw the magazine catch on, release the button, pop the other part of the button on.

Thanks for information , sounds easy enough, think I'll purchase my button now. The only hard part now is to decide to go with a design, a grooved one or a serrated one. Too many choices . LOL

Had a bitter sweet day at the range. I'm at the range with my rifle Oh so sweet of a day had the range to myself for 3 hours , calling my own line breaks and just enjoying myself.

The bitter part , ten 25rnd mag changes , the bolt stayed locked open only twice . I guess I have to do the spring cut after all .

I gotta hope the removal of the spring is not to hard. So I ask yet again for help (Jyezahn if your reading this, lol) because as far as operation in closing the bolt , you cant beat this . The ergonomics are so smooth WOW you guys were right , for me there is no turning back , GOTTA CUT THE SPRING!!

Just separate the upper and lower receivers, use a roll pin punch to push out the pin on the bolt catch/release. Make sure you are careful or the spring can pop out. Remove the spring, cut two full turns off of the end. Insert the spring with the cut end first, reinstall the bolt catch/release, insert the roll pin. Easy peasy!

I ordered and installed the SBR a couple months ago and have put about 1k rounds though the 15-22 since then and have had no problems at all. The bolt locks back everytime it's supposed to. I did the spring cut when I installed the SBR. It's an upgrade that is sure to stay on the rifle as long as I own it.
