Primary Arms Micro Red Dot
Hello. So, I've got my iron sights, sighted in, and I am throwing a red dot on it now with plans to do a lower 1/3 co witness. My M&P 15-22 is a nice rifle, but I am saving the AimPoint for my 5.56. I narrowed it down to the Bushnell Trs-25, and the Primary Arms micro red dot, and decided based off of reviews, to go with PA.
My problem is, I can't find one anywhere for sale in new condition. Can anyone send me a link or something? The website states that they are out of stock, and it doesn't appear any other dealer has them??? Have they always been this hard to get?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for viewing.

Stand corrected. I just checked an auction site, and they have one new, but the price is $180 plus shipping. They sell on PA's website for $89. I am looking for one closer towards retail value.

They (MD-06) were in stock yesterday at 10:00am on Primary Arms website, but are already sold out. Best thing to do is to subscribe to their email notifications for the product you want.
The Bushnell TRS-25 had a 20% off rebate over the last month or so, and would be a good alternative.

Yep. As fast as they got them in, they sold out. I've been waiting for many months to get mine and got in as soon as I get the notification email they they were back in stock. You'll see them for many different prices and much of it depends on the base. For $89, you get the optic and then have to select the riser you want. For the PA riser, it's another $20 but there are options for other risers as well. The higher quality the riser, the more it costs. So, depending on what it comes with, $180 might not be a bad deal.
I've simply run their 30mm red dot until this came in. You can pretty much get your money back out of it if you decide to sell it also.

Check PA daily. I've used both their micro dot and the bushnell trs25 on my 15-22. right now the bushnell is on the 15-22. the micro dot is sitting on a 5.56 with PA's 3x magnifier. trying to see how it holds up.

It is a great sight. I have 2 of them, both on American Defense mounts, and I like them a lot. They're reliable, fairly clear, with a good crisp dot that doesn't lose zero, even on my 12-gauge.
That said, with respect to the original post, I can't figure out why anyone would deliberately want to run this in any type of co-witness for day to day shooting. It's not a big huge tube to look through in the first place. If I had to line up iron sights with the red dot every time I pulled the trigger, I'd probably quit shooting after one magazine. In my humble opinion, I'd lose the factory iron sights for some Magpul backups, and get the PA red dot, and don't look back. You will never put the Magpul sights up, and you will be a much happier shooter.

I can respect your post, although it seems more of a personal preference. I don't know if my eyes are adequate using iron sights at or over 100 yards, and wanted to try it with a red dot, to see if it makes a difference. The PA route, seemed to be the cheapest yet most efficient way to explore this theory. Just seems it would be more convenient and quicker to line up a red dot as opposed to bare iron sight at longer distances.

That's exactly the point I was trying to make. Put another way, try the red dot alone first, before making the commitment to using it with your irons in a co-witness system.

You really can't go wrong with either. If you still want a PA, you could go with this one: https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_...se_p/md-07.htm
That is what I have on my 15-22. The difference between that and the other one is this one doesn't have a removable base. Essentially, it has to be mounted to a picatinny rail directly. You can't swap out bases. You can get either a mid or high railed riser for $10 from PA with the red dot.
There's that micro dot, or the 30mm red dot: https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_...mm-red-dot.htm

You don't "line up iron sights with the red dot" when shooting co-witnessed red dot sights. Each is used independently. Red dots are meant to be shot with both eyes open, so when focusing on the target, you will get to where you don't even notice the iron sights.

@ cyphertext... I understand your point, and perhaps I used the term "line up" incorrectly by some standards. I also understand, pretty thoroughly, how red dots work. The only point I was trying to make (mostly to the OP, who mentioned using his iron sights with the red dot) was that (in my opinion), using irons with a micro-red dot is a cluttered sight picture, and that using the red dot without the irons would normally be more than sufficient for most plinking, target shooting, etc. that a 15-22 is used for. I'm sure everyone has seen the attached pic, but it illustrates my point. YMMV.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you meant that you would still be shooting through the irons, aligning the red dot to sit atop the front post.
I agree, it does create a more cluttered sight picture. My Sport has a fixed front sight base that I have learned to ignore, but I keep the rear sight folded away to not add to the clutter. On my son's 15-22, he has the Magpul MBUS front and rear set for absolute co-witness but remain folded down the majority of the time. I can shoot with them up, but they take up so much of the sight picture, it is almost like shooting with the cover on the red dot. He has the TRS-25 and lower 1/3 didn't work for us due to location of the diode. But he is 14, thinks the flip up sights and a red dot are cool, so whatever makes him happy.
