Got my Doomsday ACH today
This thing is beefy. Did some dry fire drills and changes from left hand to right hand. I'm digging it. I previously had a Tacticool22 aluminum charging handle with a Simple Weapons Solutions ambi-latch. It's a good combo, but for winter the Doomsday is way better for gloves.
Will try to add pics shortly.

Where did you get/find this? Looks a lot like the BCM on my big brother, and would love to have one for the 15-22.

Got my Doomsday ACH today
Any chance that you could take a picture that centers the charging handle and looks towards the barrel. From what I see it looks like the left side is "lazy" which, to me, questions fit and finish. It also could be that the ch isn't fully seated but id still like to see a centered overhead view.
Also, how does it fit in the receiver? Is there play or is it snug like the stock version?

Fit and finish are good. Anodizing is all even. Charging handle fits snugly into the upper receiver. I'll try and get a better picture tonight. It was just past the time of day where I have good light and I was trying to balance the rifle on a TV tray table while snapping a pic with my phone. Pretty much the guaranteed potato picture set up.

Let me see if I can get some slightly less sucky pictures up.
Here it is fully inside the upper. The right "ear" isn't spring loaded so you can see it will sit back just a little if you ride the charging handle in.

Here it is with the bolt locked back and the charging handle out. You can *just* see the start of the Doomsday logo. I've charged it about 100 times and no real wear on the finish, but some light lines.

$55 seems high to me esp since I was able to pick up 2 Rainer raptors for my AR's for $75 ea but I guess its like everything, the more made/sold, the cheaper....looks nice.

Low demand high cost, high demand lower cost its part of the life cycle. I think the raptor is over priced but they own the market for AR charge handles.

Edit: after further review IMHO, the price point for the Doomday Tactical charging handle is directly in line with the other offerings. I was not factoring in their version comes with a latch and others do not. Excuse my newb error.

Hello all,
Forgive the question. Will this charging handle release to chamber a round by pulling the right "ear" as well as the left like a normal charging handle?
I read through the post and didn't see the answer. Forgive me if I overlooked it.
Thanks

Yes it will. Pulling the right ear does essentially the same thing as pulling the left...it disengages the latch from the receiver and allows you to move the charging handle. In this ambi setup the right ear just engages the left ear instead of engaging the latch directly. So assuming you have a loaded magazine inserted and the bolt is currently locked back, just pull the right ear to disengage the latch, pull the handle all the way back like normal to release bolt tension from the bolt catch, and let go.

Why not just hit the bolt release; that's what it's there for?

I don't like hitting the paddle because I'm a lefty. Whacking that means I have to pull my hand off the pistol grip OR reach my weak hand under and around to hit it.
The DD charging handle solves all those problems and more. I can reach up and pull it if I'm shooting off a rest, in the event of a misfire/misfeed, etc.
Def picking up another.

Oh yeah. Have to put in a request for a DD charging handle in some kind of tan. Getting close to building my next 15-22 and I'm thinking about going with that color.
Also, he didn't respond to the girl's analysis of his handwriting.

19 Kilo,
I do have some good handwriting. Working as a recruiter for 4 years writing on documents improved my handwriting big time. As for the Friendly part I don't mess with sausage. I only mess with 2 sets of lips!!

I just acquired one of DT's handle/latch combos. Hopefully I'll get to the range this week to try it out. I've been running an NDZ handle/PT latch combo for close to two years and have been very happy with it. It will be interesting to se if I make a permanent switch.

Went to buy one of These Charging Handles and it requires Paypal or money order.
Question: Can I still pay with a personal credit card through PayPal or do I have to use the actual PayPal account?
My wife's PayPal account is connected to her business and I don't like to mix my purchases with business funds for accounting.

The Tac charging handles sure looks cool, but I carry an AR on duty and found that it is common to have the extended handle snag on my external ballistic carrier. That second or two getting the handle untangled could be a serious issue if deploying the AR in a stress situation. I vote for a stock charging handle.

The 15-22 isn't an AR and it isn't a combat firearm. It's an AR style .22. The overwhelming majority are range guns, although competition shooting is popular. Looks and convenience trump combat considerations.

Yes, you can purchase with a credit card without using PayPal, but it will still be processed by PayPal. Just select to pay with a credit card, hit checkout, and when it takes you to the PayPal page there should be a "Don't have a PayPal Account" option. Choose that and it will let you enter your credit card information.

Got mine today, beautiful piece. The milling marks give it a really cool look. Will install tomorrow and get plenty of pictures and measurements for the curious. Impressive!

Thanks for showing the handle in regards to having a scope or magnifier above it. That is my issue I have with existing charging handles. With my Primary Arms magnifier all the way back, I need bigger ears to easily rack the bolt.

OK, range time today with the DT handle and latch installed. Keep in mind the the following is MY experience only.
Pro: Well made; excellent ergonomics; latch operates flawlessly and is a dream to operate with shooting gloves on (gloves are actually batting gloves). The latch is better than the Plinker Tactical ambi-latch on my NDZ handle, albeit considerably bigger.
Con: (and this is highly subjective!) the finish isn't as smooth as the NDZ and does not, to me, slide through the upper quite as smoothly.
That said, the DT combo works very well. I slipped it on my grandson's rifle and had the same results.
Outstanding job, Eric!

Doomsday ACH....
Where can I get a handle like the one pictured? All I see on the Doomsday site is anodized black.

I agree. Sticks out too far unless in artic conditions with heavy gloves. Reminds me of a solution looking for a problem.

Maybe for some but for me it is a solution to a problem. With my PA magnifier, I need the bigger ears to easily actuate the handle. Keep in mind I'm an old printer that shoots recreationally, so I'm not real worried about it snagging on my jeans & t-shirt.

I just cannot appreciate all these mall-ninja doo-dads, but if they make your hearts go pitter-patter, I'm happy for you guys. Your purchases are good for the economy - so really - you're doing your patriotic duty!

As you reach a certain age, one gravitates to anything that makes his heart go pitter-patter.

Oh I get it.
I too, am often happy to just wake up every morning.
I bought my 15-22 through the 3point5 program for $370, so I just can't see paying almost 15% of the price of the rifle, for a stinkin' charging handle. The plastic (or "space-age polymer") one works fine. If it affected accuracy, it would be a different matter.

Well, goody for you.
I put things on my firearms that enhance my shooting experience, be it changing the handle and latch, the mag release button, the Speed Bolt Release, the Hogue pistol grip, Jard FCG or the MagPul CTR buttstock. Same deal for the scope and Tactical Solutions muzzle brake.
You run your's bone stock? That's fine, but it doesn't make you morally superior to those of us that don't.
To each his own weirdness!

Sorry about that.

Sorry about that remark. It didn't come across as funny as I first thought.
My vehicle isn't stock, either. It has body side mouldings, a moon roof air deflector, wheel arch mouldings, a sport grill, bull bar, engine/transmission skid plate, the interior lights have all been replaced with LEDs. The brake/tail, backup and turn signal lamps will get replaced with LEDs shortly. With those and a couple of interior items, that's over $3K worth of add-ons that don't particularly make it run any better or improves the gas milage, but it sure does make me enjoy the vehicle more.

Lon, thanks. I feel better about myself now. I now know there are others out there sicker than me.
