How do you like your sling ?
I installed a new sling on my M&P 15-22. Went with the Magpul and mounted it with the double mounting. Didn't see any reason to post a different picture of it. It mounts ahead of the sliding stock and balances quite nicely there for my use. I pop the magazine and slid it into a pouch pocket. Then sling the rifle over a shoulder or back for the afternoon treck over there. Rifle unloaded not much to worry about except wild Turkeys. Also if I wish I can go back to the single mount. I did away with the OEM stock, the mount was brittle, pot metal strength.

Maybe you should start by telling us what you installed & how you like yours.

I'll play...
Gear Sector GS2P first: great smooth tubular nylon construction - no hang ups or snagging (and the Gear Sector QD rail socket is excellent)
Moved onto a Magpul MS3 QD then, as I wanted the option to go single-point for left-handed stages in comps. This is with the MI MCTAR30 rear sling point on the 15-22.
I also have the MS3 on my 9mm carbine, so made sense to run the same setup on both.

My sling (MS3) and I get along pretty well. Thanks for asking.

Well done with a margarita up and a side of fries always comes to mind.

Made this one for a client, he wanted it unfinished. I have it modeled on my shotgun.
I intend to make one for myself and do some work on it. Maybe something like the stamping on this belt.

Blue Force Gear Vickers Padded VCAS with QD swivels. One attached to a B5 Bravo stock and other to an IWC rail mount.

I'll take a picture of my military sling on my old Stevens 22 LR Semi when I get time. It turns green with age where it hooks. It was my 22 of choice until I found my M&P 15-22. Considering trimming it down now to the end of the tube. It has the locking bolt feature for subsonic single shot shorts function. LOL

I had an original WWII m-1 carbine sling in my gun room drawer, that I had bought 30-years ago. I just mounted that on my 15-22. Works great for me.

Does it have the brass hooks ( claws ) at both ends ? I have thought about getting a new one, they have the look alike leather one at Bass Pro.

What is a sling for? Do they help you shoot straighter? J/K
I've yet to buy one because I usually don't walk more than a few yards with it. It never goes more than 20-30 ft from my Jeep to where I shoot it from.

The sling comes in handy for me if I need both hands or just comfort of transport when hiking in the wild of my private ground. I have always liked to rough it in my rough country. I would mention my old sling was so tattered I could pull it apart (Leather.) I believe something actually eats leather until it is weakened.

My Gator is set up with rifle racks, so I too rarely walk any long distances with the gun. However my VTAC sling helps my accuracy greatly. With just one yank on the strap and the gun goes from carry position to firing position. Pull the other strap, and it loosens back up. Shooting freehand, I'm not real stable but having the tight sling to "push" against, helps me greatly. For me, it is almost as good as bracing against a tree. I don't shoot without my sling anymore.

You might be thinking of the m-1 Garand sling.
The common carbine sling I have is canvas with a snap button on one end. It is a bit short except for carrying the rifle slung over my shoulder.

Did some hiking off the ATV over the Holiday and that Magpul Sling was comfortable over my Frog-Toggs.

If you know how to properly use a M1907 or Garand sling you can shoot groups as tiny as you can from a benchrest, although it takes much practice to be able to do so. Either sling will also work for comfortably carrying a rifle for many miles.

True for the USGI M16 sling, too, from a prone or sitting position the sling provides superior lock-in. There's some argument apparently regarding if the sling helps with standing shots; some people seem to think that the tension of hte sling can pull the barrel out of line.
I got a sure-enough surplus USGI sling from the local milsurp store for mine. Works for me!
