Question Aguila Interceptor in 15-22 Concern

I am asking if anyone has shot the Aguila Interceptors in their M&P 15-22 and experienced any damage or excessive wear and tear. Normally, I use CCI Mini Mags w 36gr Bullet, but since they are hard to find and unholy expensive nowadays I found the Aguila Super Extra with 40 gr bullet shoots well. Also got some Aguila Interceptors with 40 gr bullet.

Read in some reviews concerns about the Interceptors in semi-auto rifles because the springs and other parts are not designed for their extra power. Tried them out in a Ruger MkII Pistols with Bull Barrel and broke the bolt stop hinge, but shot nice groups in an indoor range. So, I'm a little reluctant to run a bunch through my M&P 15-22.

Figured it might be better to ask about this here before doing anything I might regret later...

shot a brick of their super maximums through mine with no problems and they are supposed to be the fastest 22lr round in the world almost on par with the 22mag--but that's me its your gun your decision

Thanks. Just wanting to see if anyone has encountered major damage or issues. I think the rifle is probably more than capable of handling these cartridges. Aguila lists MV of 1470 fps, and they do pop-off pretty good.

I've not shot them (interceptors), but have put some Remington Yellow Jackets through mine at an advertised 1500 FPS, albeit with a 33gr bullet. It's the only ammo out of at least a dozen I've tried that has made me raise an eyebrow with 3 stove pipes in 100 rounds (clean bore/bolt prior to loading them). I won't buy them anymore, but only because my rifle doesn't seem to like them and not from worries about hurting my gun.

I really wouldn't worry about the velocity/recoil. It is my personal opinion that the 15-22 will handle them and think nothing of it. Despite polymer comprising much of the body, it's a pretty rugged machine. If the interceptors feed/fire/eject reliable from your personal rifle, I say go for it.

I baby my MP15-22 like crazy. I would not blink an eye about shooting these rounds.

They are not listed on the "do not use" list in the manual right?

Default Agulia

I've found the company's ammo to be the most accurate in my 15-22.

Thanks everyone for these replies. I am going to give the Interceptors a try in my rifle because they shot so well in the Ruger MkII. I'll report back if there's anything notable to report. I have found the Aguila "Super Extra" to work really well and will be on the lookout for the "Match" variety mentioned. The rifle is more accurate than I expected. I am using a Red/Green Dot Reticle type sight. Never could shoot consistently with the Military Type Iron Sights. Thanks again!
