I am looking at two different flashlights and mounts for my 15-22.

The differences between the two are:

1 - 126 Lumens, 0.35lbs

2 - 150 Lumen, 0.41lbs

The difference between 1 and 2 is a price increase of $20.

We all know that bigger is better, but is this worth it?

Thanks for your information and opinions.

Michael

Do you have links and prices? These would help cause there might be better options out there you may not be aware of.

eta... Im a 500 lumen guy myself.

What do you want to do with the rifle? That will tell you what you need in a light.

I run the Roschworks SL-1 on my AR15 and like it so much I sold off several other weapon lights this week. To some the price may be a bit much, but when you consider the price of some of the high quality weapon lights and mounts it come out to around the same price.

Exactly. Knowing what you are trying to do with it will help a lot. How bright, beam pattern, strobe option.... There are lot's of variables based on use.

In this day and age 150 Lumens is a toy. I have a Powertac E5 which is very small and easy to use. It has several modes including high (700 lumens) which will run for two hours. Water, and shock proof with recharageable batteries. What more could you ask for.

I was so impressed by my first Primary Arms Gen II Weapons Light that I bought
another :) They are not small and they are not light, but they are BRIGHT! :)

Has anyone used the Magpul weapon light attachment?

Just wondering. I have it, but I haven't used it... It's made of a combined polymer and metal assembly that matches their rail covers. There's a 1 o'clock and an 11 o'clock version as well.

I have this combination on 5.6 and 7.62X35 - for about 2 years - no problem. Amazon.com : Generic Side Picatinny Mount for Tactical Flashlight/Laser Surefire Light, Black : Gun Stock Accessories : Sports & Outdoors@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41lZLF3wqDL.@@AMEPARAM@@41lZLF3wqDL

ShiningBeam C-mini Cree XP-G R5 Tactical LED Flashlight 280 Lumens

Flashlight is a little smaller (thinner diameter) about 0.3mm - use rubber pad or any type of thin spacer for firm installation. Strobe mode is really nice.

I just ordered two of those mounts and kinda weird, the cost was only .01cent apiece , but the shipping was $10.

So, I got 2 for $10.02........

Price is ridiculously low for mount but quality is surprisingly good. Light is tactical mini (ShiningBeam.com) CreeXP-G R5 – 280 lumens (SIC!) – 4 different modes including nasty strobe. It also remember last use mode. Great for the price and build well. Battery: use CR123 (you can get rechargeable Tenergy PN: 30200 for about $3.5 from Jameco (NOT 30201!). This setup is very light and powerful – works very well for me.

I use the same thing on my 15-22 as my M&P-15, a Surefire in a VTAC mount. The G2X Tactical is $70 MSRP and 320 lumens, and the VTAC mount is $25. You can get both at BCM for about $100 shipped. Or upgrade the light to the EAG Fury with clicky tailcap and 500 lumens for $120.

The cheap Chinese stuff will probably work for most people and that's probably good enough, especially for the price.

I you compare EAG Fury to "cheap chinese stuff" please try this in same flashlight category - and for $47.99 price - (no offence :). NITECORE
