Supposedly the "new" version of the CCI AR Tactical ammo has been thoroughly tested in the S&W M&P 22-15. The old version came in boxes of 375. The new version comes in boxes of 300 for about the same price as the old boxes of 375. Here's a link to the new version.

Is there really any difference in the new version?

Disregard this question. I talked to a CCI rep and found out that the only difference is the package. The old box was 375 bulk packed and the new package is 300 in plastic boxes like Velocitors come in.

To clarify what boxes means here, it's not really exactly like Velocitors in 50-round boxes with sliding plastic lids like the CCI rep said. I understand what he was talking about a little better now that I've seen a picture. It's not showing up now, but Cabelas had a picture of it earlier. The rounds are packed in hanging trays in one big flat 300-round box. The rep said that the redesign was to keep the wax coating on the bullets off of the brass casings so it would feed more cleanly through magazines and actions of semi-auto guns.

Object is the charge the same price and give you 75 fewer rounds.

Sure am happy I'm not in the 22 ammo market right now.

I put about 2000 of this ammo from the loose 375 boxes through my rifle with no problem. I liked it a lot, but if the new packaging comes in handling trays that's a nice little quality of life upgrade. I just wish I could find more of it near me.

I have been following the M&P 15-22 sub forum for some time. I have four M&P pistols and a dedicated (CMMG) AR22 that I use the Better Mag adapter so I can use 15-22 magazines.

I had some issues with the CCI tactical ammo in my AR22 setup at my last .22lr AR tactical match. Cold morning around 35-40 degrees and the issue was the ammo feeding into the chamber. Seemed the wax that CCI uses to coat their "tactical" .22 ammo was gumming up the chamber enough to affect chambering. Switched to another non coated ammo and it ran fine.

"Tactical" and it flies off the shelf. I admit had I not seen this post and saw the ammo, which lets be honest, who is these days, anyway I would of bought it.

Just got one of the new boxes of these. I think the box looks nice, but it is not a great design. I wish they would have included trays that could stand outside the carton. Also not real crazy about getting 75 fewer rounds for the same amount of money as the old carton.

I've been running CCI AR Tactical in my 10/22 steel rifle for some time now. The loose wax is annoying when loading mags but doesn't seem to bother the rifle at all.

Stupid question but is this the same as and/or similar to the Mini-Mag rounds?

Much like the "new and improved" Remington golden bullets. I'm sure nothing has improved except for the wording on the box.

The CCI, they just cut back on giving u the extra 75rds and decided to take the same amount of money from u. At least these things actually work and u get what u pay for, as opposed to those stupid GB's.

If you look at it this way, 4 boxes of 300 instead of 375 will make 1 extra box of 22. More ammo on the shelves in the long run. Maybe when things slow down, they will make the 375 boxes or 400. Just being optimistic.
