That depends. Are you certain you will buy aftermarket sights? If so, getting the stock irons and getting used to those only to switch it up doesn't make a lot of sense.

Normally with a new rifle, the advice is to shoot it a lot as it comes stock before adding and changing a bunch of things, in order to know how you will want to change it based on experience and not just theory. But in this case where it sounds like you don't have any sights at all, unless you really want stock sights I'd just buy what you think you want and start there.

Just get the sights you want. No reason to get the original. And original means different things depending on what you got. If you got the MOE edition, the original sights were Magpul MBUS polymer flip up sights. If you got a standard 15-22, it's the cheap UTG sights. If you get any other AR, the original sights are whatever they threw on there. Don't waste your time. Get what you want and run with it.

I got the 1st gen magpul sights on eBay for really cheap. About $20 shipped. They work great, just not as slim as the 2nd gen ones. I'm not sure how they compare to stock as I bought my ruffle used and it only came with a red dot.

EBay is know for their cheap knock off magpul products. Several have said they wor fine on their .22's, but just remember if you only pay $20 they are probably not real magpul. I think the biggest complaint of the fake magpul sights is that they strip out easier when putting them on. Just be sure not to over tighten.

First thing I do anymore is black out the white dots on the rear sight, widen the notch with a chainsaw file, and add a fiberoptic front sight. Cheap and easy, and I haven't found a sight system I like better.

I like the original sights that came on mine so when I put on a scope, I used them on my black forge 5.56 m4 and they are working well
