I thought maybe some of you would be interested in seeing the differences between the 15-22 upper and some other dedicated AR 22 uppers. I only have one to show, but if anyone else wants to show some comparisons, I'd be interested in seeing them. I have a bigger album with some comments here: S&W 15-22 compared to Plinker Arms AR 22 Upper

Here is the Plinker Arms AR 22 dedicated upper vs. the 15-22:

I have a 15-22 and dedicated DPMS .22 m4. Both have their own feel and operation and each provides their distinctive level of fun. How can anyone live without both? :-)

I'd like to see an accuracy comparison if anyone has done one? I've heard the better quality 22lr dedicated uppers can really perform good.

My Taccom AR 22 makes a reasonably good back up for my $1200 custom Rem 597 for metallic silhouette shooting.
597=.5 MOA
AR-22=1 MOA
15-22= 2 MOA

Yes, if they are designed specifically for the .22 LR, including a barrel with the proper groove diameter, they have superior over the 15-22. If they are just .223/5.56 uppers fitted with a .22 LR adapter, the accuracy can be anything from decent to mediocre.

The groove diameter of .22 LR is not exactly the same as for .223/5.56. .22 LR is .222 and .223/5.56 is .223. A 223/5.56 barrel is oversize for .22 LR.

Many .22 LR match barrels have a groove diameter of .2215.
