Impulse buy Harvest Moon 15-22
I went to purchase an FNS-9 at a small local dealer off Armslist. I got to talking with him and he showed me about a dozen different 15-22 of all kinds of colors. I just thought they came in black. I was hooked on the Harvest Moon Orange version, fondled it for a while, when he said "oh, any 15-22 comes with a 525 box of Golden Bullets". That sealed the deal, so I brought it home along with the FN. This thing is so cool looking, I don't want to fire it, I just want to look at it! The wife thinks it's ugly.
It is still in the box in my safe, but this is what it looks like...

The S&W logo on that magazine is crying out for some orange tacti-crayola Although mine is staying all black, I actually don't mind this colour.
A black and gray urban/digital camo version would be sweet

Good camo for shooting squirrels in fall foliage... or picking out small game fleeing a raging forest fire.

Nice, I recently bought my wife the Purple Platinum - she loves it.
I didn't get a brick of .22LR with mine though

Nice rifle! The golden bullets, may or may not be up to par, but there's only one way to find out. Happy and safe shooting!

Got mine in basic black!
I like the colors, but mines the basic black. The main reason of my post is that on page 11 of the 15-22 Instruction Manual, Smith & Wesson makes a very specific point of what ammo is Not Recommended for this rifle. The First bullet listed is the Remington Golden Bullet. I just find it odd your dealers package included that particular ammo. Great gun!

My 15-22 is the only .22 I have that cycles Golden Bullets. It loves them. Everything else chokes on pretty much anything Remington.

As has been posted at least a dozen times on the forum, that list is almost five years old and is so out of date as to be essentially useless. Been shooting them in my 15-22 from day one. I have no idea how many thousand of them I have put through mine, but it must be close to 5k worth.
If you have Remingtons you don't want, send them to me and my grandson and I will gladly dispose of them for you.

Nice gun! Now, just get some black spray paint to make it look right. Haha. I kid. It's different. I hope you didn't pay extra for that. Maybe some real pics of the gun would help. It probably looks better in person.

I have twin grandsons who are about ready to receive their first .22 (8yo). The other grandpa wants to go in with me, but balks at the S&W price. He wants to buy them Mossbergs - he has one. I told him there's a reason they're $250 cheaper. For one, the Mossberg is NOT an AR. Besides, one boy's favorite color it red/orange, the other's is camo, and their sister is not too far behind and loves pink!

Hey, if she only complained about the looks, and not about bringing home two guns at a time, you're good to go!

Got my 15-22 last week and finally got to shoot it last night with my 12 yr old daughter and shot 8 yr old Remington Golden bullets. 200 rounds with no issues. Love this gun.

This is my second 15-22. My first one was one of the all black early releases about 4 or 5 years ago. It had a bunch of issues, and I sent it back to Smith, but it came back and worked flawlessly. My boss at the time had to have it for his 12 year old, so I sold it to him.
Always wanted to get another one and this one jumped in my lap. Paid $410 for it with the brick of Golden Bullets, which I have never used in any of my 22's. It definitely stands out in a safe full of black rifles/shotguns. I will try and get a real pic of it tomorrow in the daylight.

I'm very interested to see it in real-life pics. Manufacturer pics can be deceiving. $410 is a little steep considering I paid $299 recently for my all black, but the only thing that matters is that you're happy. Can't wait to see the pics!

Like I said, it kind of jumped in my lap. I had not been looking for one and hadn't priced them in eons. Hence the title, impulse buy. Actually, I think it was the brick of Remingtons that sold me on it. I live in a very small town and 22 has been unobtainium for the past two years.
Its been raining the past couple of days, so the pics I took were dark. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so will try again. It is not near as bright as the manufacturers pic shows.

Sorry for the delay with pics, I plum forgot to take them. So, here they are with the sunshine on it. Like I said, its not near as bright orange as the file pic shows. The right side doesn't have near as much orange on it. Not the greatest pics, as my camera skills are very lacking.........
