Default Rear Sight better than I thought

When I was looking at all the videos and reviews of the M&P 15-22, they all indicated the rear sight only had one peep. Mine has both the small and large peep. Very surprised and pleased. When did they start doing that?

Yes, the sights on the stock 15-22 are very, very good. They are arguably the very best sights on any .22 rifle made- unquestionably so for 'tactical' style .22s.

Windage and elevation are adjustable with 1/2 minute clicks (without tools!!). Properly zeroed at 25yds (with HV ammo), they give a very practical battle sight zero out to 100yds. (Your POI is always within 3" or less of your POA, regardless of distance and without elevation adjustment.)

Better yet, you can quickly and reliably then dial your elevation out to 200yds- and then just as quickly and reliably return to your 25yd BSZ. Most scopes won't do this- let alone red dot sights.

I'm so impressed with the irons on this rifle that I plan on mounting them on 45 degree rails for my CQB work. They are, dare I say it, better than my Magpul sites by far.

Don't know about all the various model's of the 15-22. I have a plain Jane 15-22 w/ birdcage type flash-hider that I bought NIB. It has two apertures on the rear sight as is common to the AR-15 series. I sighted in using the small aperture. With care iron sighted 10 shot groups are under two inches at 50 yds. fired using a properly set up sandbag rest. Flipping to the larger aperture POI relative to POA remains the same.
