Plinker Tactical Magazines
Hi all,
Any thoughts on the Plinker Tactical 35 round magazines? Yesterday, I had 2 malfunctions and when opening the bottom, found the long spring all twisted up. I was using Browning 22LR rounds which were horrible (was trying different brands to see what my rifle would take). Had many FTE, double feeds, and failure to feed, duds, etc. Some of the rds were chewed up and 1 even got stuck in the barrel.
I have used one of the Plinker mags with CCI, and Amscor and it worked just fine. So, I am assuming it was the ammo and not the mags after straightening out the twisted springs, which I may have caused by filling the new mags to the maximum of 35 rounds.
I have yet to try the 3 new Plinker magazines with the CCI Mini Mags or Standard Velocity rounds to see if the malfunctions were just due to the Browning ammo.
I did hear someone at the range say to not fully load new magazines to the maximum capacity for awhile so the new springs in the mags will work better. I also have a few of the S&W 25 rd mags and 1 Blackdog 50 rd. drum.
Any views on the Plinker mags will be appreciated. Thanks!
KH

I have used the plinker mags without any issues. I only put 30 rounds in them tho. I got them when they 1st came out and tried 35 rounds and all trouble seemed to happen with the top two rounds..felt tight against action of bolt. marked mags with silver sharpie at 30rd spot and havent had any more issues. If you ever run across the long s&w 10rd mags grab em up. they are very easy to modify to hold 25rds ..I have found them around much cheaper than the factory 25rd ers. hope this is helpful

Went to the range today and shot 300 rounds of CCI Mini Mags throught the Plinker mags. Went with 30 rounds max and had NO issues whatsoever. So, it had to be the Browning rounds I was using that messed up the other day. For about $8 a shot, these Plinker mags are a darn good bargain.
Thanks for the input guys and be safe!

I've had to of them for quite a while now. No issues, and I load them to the top.

I have a couple as well, they've been ok even though it requires the tool to load more quickly. I definitely prefer the S&W for loading but the Plinkers have been good too. One thing I do is shake it around while loading to make sure they all sit properly inside.

I've never had a problem shooting the bullets out of them, but getting new one back in is harder than a SW mag. I'll pass on another one, and prolly sell the one I own.

Keep the Plinker.
Order this McFadden Machine Lightnin' Grip Loader
Email them and ask for the 3D PRINTED ADAPTER FOR M&P 15-22. You'll be glad you did.

I bought 4 of them from CDNN Sports online the other day at $6.99 ea for the 35 round magazine with no loading tool and 1 for $8.99 that came with the loading tool. Loads pretty good with that tool, but I would like to find another tool someday for a spare. Would be a PITA to load one without it. Hold the rounds well and not one issue shooting in any of the rounds, except for the one in the closet I put up that still in the plastic container it came in. I kept one pristine since I was reading this lawsuit wording the other day concerning Smith & Wesson suing Plinker Tactical over this magazine and patent infringement. Doesn't look good, and I may buy a few more since they work so well... AND get another one with the magazine loader.

My first Plinker mags didn't come with a loader, so I made one. I couldn't remember what I made out of, so I just went out to the safe to look at it. I still couldn't figure out what I made out of. Finally occurred to me what it was. I cut off just enough of a fish tape (the flat steel kind), bent an "L" at the top, and curved the tape to fit the mag. The real thing is a bit easier, but in a pinch the fish tape works.

Shooting so well I bought 4 more from CDNN Sports. 3 regular FDE and 1 FDE that has the loading tool. I see that their website is no longer functional, meaning, it is a domain parking spot up for grabs. So I doubt that they are still in business. If these last 4 work as well as the others I got, then I'll have spares for some time... OR I'll have trading stock for someone that wants one in the future.
