I had seen pictures of this mount on other M&P 15-22s, so I purchased one to try. I was disappointed to see that it moved around and didn't fit quite right on a 15-22 because the adapter is designed to fit over the extension tube lock nut. So I came up with the idea of modifying a lock nut to be a kind of spacer to fill up the void under the adapter. I had the I.D. of a lock nut bored out to 1.15" and had a 0.55" wide slot cut in the bottom of it. You can see the results in the attached photos.
I also had the "nubs" milled off on the adapter as shown. After seeing the adapter installed, I don't think taking these projections off was necessary. I still could not slide the adapter all the way up to the back of the receiver because the fillet at the bottom of the extension tube prevents it.
While I was at it, I also ordered and tried to install an oversize charging handle latch that was designed for a regular AR-15. It did not work. You can see in one of the attached photos that the 15-22 latch has a longer "hook" than a standard AR.
The sling adapter worked out well though. I had to tighten the screw to 18 in-lbs to make it solid.
