Was at the local Sportsman's Warehouse on Saturday. Decided to stop in as it is next to the Home Depot where I was headed. Checked for ammo - Ha-Ha! Since the gun counter was not busy I decided to see what they had in stock. Had the new Shield Plus and also the 15-22 pistol in stock. Got to handle and look over both. The young guy behind the counter said they had 11 of the 15-22 pistols in stock and I better hurry and get one. (I already have a 15-22 rifle.) The 15-22 pistol was interesting as I had never seen one. This is where my question comes in. The arm brace extended long enough that I could shoulder it.
In researching, it appears that the BATF has been directed by Biden to review the regulations for arm braces within the next 60 days. The shooter in the recent grocery store multiple victim attack is reported to have used an AR556 pistol with arm brace.
If the arm brace regulations are changed making the 15-22 pistol a SBR then the $200 tax would have to be paid. I assume if the arm brace is outlawed like the bump fire device then the 15-22 pistol would be illegal. The arm brace was developed for persons with disabilities so the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) could come into play. If the braces are banned would existing 15-22 pistols be grandfathered?
Any thoughts on this?
