M&P 15-22 Pistol Purchase and Range Experience
Last week I won an auction for a new 15-22 pistol. Read some mixed reviews and so I thought for the very reasonable price of $30, the price of Volquartsen extractor and firing pin would set me up for success right off the bat. I won the auction for just under $400. I added a Sig Romeo 5 as well.
Took it to the range today, got it sighted in. Ran about 350-400 rounds through it. Cheap Federal bulk range ammo, ran flawlessly minus a few rounds that would not fire. All had very strong primer strikes and did not fire in other firearms (so junk rounds in assuming).
I have steel plates (6”x8”) that hung at forty yards, putting rounds on target was only limited by me and the speed of the trigger reset. Hits on my 12” gong at 100 yard were consistent and easy as long as I held for drop accordingly!
This pistol is just a blast to shoot and is honestly the perfect size for a tactical .22. Super lightweight compact but still puts rounds on target with ease. Big fan this far!
Pics of the pistol and the family of firearms from today’s range session!

Nice stable of rimfires you have there! The 15-22's, pistol and/or carbine, are great little guns and are just flat out fun to shoot.

Congrats. I was just looking at one today, and they make for a nice little package. I was thinking of buying it, but really have no practical use for one, and I already have too many range toys. If I could hunt in PA with a semi-auto handgun, I bet it would make a neat little rabbit gun.

It was a good group at the range today. The remaining rimfires were Marlins, Colts and surplus that don’t get out with the shooters so much. I had high hopes for the 15-22 and it didn’t disappoint, without the Volquartsen parts who knows? I do know that the Ruger MkIII Standard I also just purchased and is pictured shot amazingly well! The balance and weight is perfect for a .22 pistol that just sits down into your grip and absorbs all recoil!

I’m not sure what the real purpose is behind many of my guns, but I’ll say that the 15-22 has a lot of features that make it just a joy to shoot and tinker with! I think with a suppressor and a trigger job it could easily become the best bang for your buck in .22’s.

I also just got a new 15-22P for my girls. I took it to the range yesterday and I was very impressed with it. It shot very very well. After watching my girls shoot the AR15, I think they are going to love this pistol. All the shots were grouped together at 30m. at the range. I love all of my AR15 5.56 pistols but you can’t beat the price of bullets for the 15-22. I wish I had a gun range in my backyard. Some pics of the new 15-22P and one of my favorite 5.56

Nice pistol. They are a blast to shoot. I've had mine about 6 months. Now you will have to buy the carbine too, I sure did.
Best of luck with your new pistol.

I bought one when they were first released into the wild... All original parts, All I have done is clean and oil it... I have probably 5000 rounds through it with only a handful of rounds, like you described, that wouldn't fire...
