Sportsman's Warehouse is running a sale of the Armscor22LR 40gr SVSP ammo. Is this ammo any good for M&P 15-22? I did some online search, and many of the comments are negative. But most of them ran the ammo on other wapons, not M&P 15-22.

Its bulk ammo I think made in the Philippines. I wouldn't expect much.

I got a free box of their .357 Magnum ammo with a 3” Python I bought recently. It locked up the revolver in 3 rounds. Crimp was too light on 99% of the rounds. I’ve had issues with some of their other ammo as well. So, Armscor is off my buy list.Matter of fact I wouldn’t take it for free. That’s my own personal experience to date

It has lube on the outside of the bullet that other brands like CCI, Remington and Winchester does not have. I have to push the cartridge harder into the chambers of my revolvers. Yet I have never had a problem with it feeding and firing in my semi-autos.

Accuracy is subjective in .22’s. I have never benched tested yet but is satisfying for plinking. A local Farm and Feed store runs it on sale frequently so I shoot a lot of it.

I’ve shot several thousand rounds through a variety of semi autos, single shot pistols and revolvers. I’ve also shot them in several semi auto rifles with no issues. I read so many bad comments about bulk ammo but that’s about all my wife and I shoot and we shoot a lot through a wide array of guns. Neither of us have problems with bulk no matter the brand. It’s very rare we have a dud although we do occasionally find one. It’s rare. Generally if we have a dud it fires on the second try and 99% of the time it’s a result of the round not being seated fully in the cylinder or chamber due to buildup of carbon. We keep our guns clean, after every range trip, which I attribute to reliable detonation and function.

Welcome S Sky. Armscor is cheapest for a reason. At current prices the difference from it to quality is under a penny a round, add anothe half cent for CCI. I buy from these folks, definitely not cheapest but a great company.

Their 22mag jhp is the most accurate round for 2 of my rifles. This is pre pandemic ammo. I went back and bought 500 rounds from the same lot and the accuracy has held.

I’d suggest buying a box then clean and oil your gun and see how they perform. Only you can determine that. If your gun is clean and you’ve not monkeyed around with springs trying to reduce trigger pull I’ll bet they function and shoot great. Remember 22’s are really dirty and can gunk up a gun quickly and every gun has its own personality. One gun shoots one brand, load and bullet great and another gun exactly like it won’t shot it worth a darn. It’s just the way guns are. Just try a box and see how your gun gets along with them.

I was given some with the purchase of a new .22............HORRIBLE AMMO!..Hard to fit the cylinder. Hard to get out. Different sounds with different shots. Highly inaccurate.......I won't have any now even if it was free.

I have a few hundred rounds of Armscor .22 LR. It has choked a 10/22, Ruger Mk4, 2x Taurus TX 22s, and one Kel-Tec P-17. Nothing runs reliably enough to shoot it up.

One day, I'm just gunna finish it off in my lever action and not buy it again


Yesterday, I found a "great deal" on Armscor .38 Special. I got it home and realized it barely fits in the cylinder, and dang sure won't load on a moonclip
I Haven't shot any yet, but it's an awful beginning. I might be afraid to put it thru my suppressor. Suffice to say, I'm out as far as that stuff goes.

I've had good luck with it. No problems to report.

Funny how some have nothing but problems and others of us have no problems at all. ??? In general I hear more complaints about bulk ammo and nothing but praise for CCI. At the moment I probably have 20,000 rounds of 22LR in the closet. Due to the pandemic shortage I bought what I could get so I have Remington Thunderbolts, two different Winchester, three federal, Aguila, CCI, Blazer and Armscor. My wife and I haven’t had any issues with any of the ammo out of 9 or 10 different 22’s, semi pistols, rifles, bolt action and revolvers. I find some brands like Thunderbolts dirtier than others and each gun had a preference as far as accuracy but they all shoot reliably. Why do I get these results and others don’t?

Essentially, all 22 Long Rifle (and Shorts and Longs) with lead bullets have lubricant on the bullet. They are the remaining examples of outside lubricated bullets since inside lubricated bullets became the "norm".

It sounds like Armscor has not refined the process as well as CCI and others to prevent excessive lube.

I am commenting on 22lr ammo only. It had more duds than any other brand. The ammo has some sticky coating making it very hard to put into the cylinders of our revolvers, (model 63, 17-1 and Ruger Single Six). It functions OK in our autos but is definitely our last resort.

I can’t speak to their .22 Ammo but I’ve shot you a bunch of it in .38 Super, 9mm and .45ACP with no problems.

Instead of basing a decision on what a bunch of people who are all too willing to bad mouth Armscor ammunition in general, why not buy 1-2 boxes of this and try it yourself and then base any future purchase decisions on your own experience! You would be amazed how often products that others complain about will perform perfectly for you!

I bought a full case of the Armscor LR SV when CMP had it a few years ago. It was the only 22 LR available at reasonable price so I bought it. I ran 4500 rounds through my 15-22 with mostly good results. It was very dirty shooting due to the before mentioned lube, required cleaning every 100 rounds to stay reliable. I experienced one ftf about every 250 rounds till I got to the last brick when it went to one per box. Other ammo ran fine so I don’t think was the rifle.

Always found it to be just fine in .45acp and .223/5.56.

I buy it at Sportsman Warehouse too. I shoot it in my Sig Saur P322. Works great. No problems..600 rounds+

Armscor centerfire ammo has very thick primers which has caused trouble in numerous guns of any make. Most will go bang and sometimes just go "click". I don't know how their rimfire is but would think it's low end stuff. It may be fine for range ammo but for serious work I wouldn't use it.

I checked the link to find PLATED Armscor HP pictured, but the product code and description indicate it is the lead soft point. There was a time I paid 10 cents / round for this stuff and was happy to get it. Now at 6 cents / round delivered, it is hard for me to argue against it as an adequate plinking round.

It runs fine in some of my guns when I keep them clean, horrible in others clean or not! Minute of coke can accuracy at 10-15 yards, certainly not match grade Eley.

I used to use it with my 22's a lot, but during the pandemic something really happened to their quality control; as it has been nothing but trouble since. I finally just gave it to the local Boy Scouts to use in their gun safety and shooting program. As to 22 Ammo now I only use Federal or Norma, and never have had a problem.

During the panic shortage I bought a couple boxes 20% misfire rate. No thanks. Ranks right up there with Winchester and Remington for horrible quality.
Even CCI these days ( easily the best domestic made 22 ammo) has slipped in quality as well.
I have actually had best luck still with CCI ( very low misfire rate, seemingly consistent in regards to velocity function and accuracy)
Followed by Mexican Aguila.
I won’t shoot Remington Winchester or armscor unless I get it for free if that tells you anything.

I shoot a monthly steel challenge match and make it a habit of picking up the dropped / malfunction clearance rounds that accumulate at each shooting position through the course of the day,
My revolvers shoot most of it just fine, so a free ammo source.
The highest percentages of this found ammo is a tie of Remington and Winchester,with armsor and federal close behind, and only a comparatively few aguila or CCI

My wife's AR15-22 will shoot it all day (if I clean the chamber & bolt face a couple of times. My AR15-22 hates it! Stovepipes, feed issues, failure to fire. Go figure...the serial numbers are only 50 units apart.
Buy some and try. Don't buy a lot if you don't have something else to shoot it in...just in case.

Finally grabbed a few boxes of Armscor, CCI, and Federal from Sportsman's Warehouse, a box of Aguila from Bass Pro, and went to the range last Saturday. Shot 10 rounds of each at 25 and 100 yards. The 10-round groupings at 25 / 100 yards are: Federal 1.4/5.9", Aguila 0.63/4.3", CCI 1.0/3.2", Armscor 1.0/10.5". There was a flyer with Armscor at 100 yards. Excluding that flyer, Armscor shrinks to 1.0/5.3".

As far as reliability is concerned, there was one light strike with Armscor, which was ignited on second strike, while there was no light strike for other ammos.

I shoot a lot of .22LR. Here's how I approach the subject. I have a S&W 317. I'm willing to shoot any kind of garbage (bulk ammo) through it. I have two very good benchrest rifles, the lowest grade I will shoot in them is CCI SV. After that it's the high priced stuff. This has been determined by extensive ammo testing.

Testing shows some will group under a dime at 50 yards. A nickel to quarter size is CCI SV territory on a good day. Then there's the Winchester, Remington and Federal. 50 round boxes or 1,200 round buckets. Baseball, softball even basketball size groups. Or they just don't fire at all.

These get dumped into a coffee can for very close up revolver use on the range. There's no Armscor in the can. I do have unopened bulk boxes and buckets waiting for the next pandemic or election. I will never run out but I try to maintain standards. YMMV.

I don't have any of their 22 lr but shoot a ton on the 22 wmr ammo and it works great and extremely accurate I think with any rim fire you will have some you will have to hit twice I say if it's a good price and it's accurate shoot it. Also I think their precision line is made in the USA at least the mag ammo is.

I bought a 5000 rd case from outdoor limited. Wife has 2 15-22’s shot a few thousand rounds between the 2 of them only had 2 miss fires but gun was dirty. Some rounds has a oily coating gummed up my lightning loader but most rounds were clean. I would buy again but I prefer Remington thunder bolts and golden bullet.

Yes, if you are going to hunt elephants, it won't work. But I have found it reliable and accurate in my Sig 322 pistol and Ruger 10-22 rifle.

I bought a bulk pack when it was available from an online vendor during one of the recent .22 droughts. For some reason I think I didn't develop a fondness for it and gave half of it away. Prior to that my only other experience with it was buying a box or two of 50 from an indoor range where I had to buy their ammo to shoot. If there is nothing else available then go ahead and enjoy, but I don't think I would ever buy Armscor .22 by choice.

I used to really enjoy their stuff because it was affordable and available. Now I am less of a fan after over 15 rounds FTF in my Model 36 and I had a round with the bullet seated high enough to stop cylinder rotation in my 686. I do not expect the greatest QC in the World, but the long bullet for the 686 was the last straw. When I shoot the rest of what I have out I will no longer use their stuff because the QC is so poor. YMMV

I have used their .30 Carbine ammunition. It was ok, brass reloaded just fine. I was able to get a good price on PPU when you could still find it at gun shows. Theirs is the best stuff that I have found so far.

How does a thick primer cause problems?

Only tried the 22 magnum rounds in my rifle. Accuracy not up to CCI or Hornady rounds I use. Tended to string the shots rather than shoot a tight group.

I have found the current USA Federal that WalMart sells is one of the best bulk .22 ammo I have ever used. It runs 100% in every semi I own, some of which are very picky.

Wally sells them for $0.07. The "sale" above is $0.08. Unless the Armscore is awesome target grade ammo, why would anyone buy it since Federal is cheaper?

I find the Armscor .22LR to be a little "dirtier" than, say, CCI or Federal.
My 15-22 doesn't like it...my wife's will shoot it all day long. I use Armscor HV in lots of my other guns, and SV in my old High Standard pistols. Gotta clean them all more often than I do if I'm using CCI or Federal. No big deal to me...what's 30 seconds with a swab?
The price has sure been right with the Armscore lately, so I'll clean!

Remember, S&W recommends CCI AR22LR in the manual for the 15-22.

Not here, P322 that absolutely doesn't like Armscor. Works in the G44, FN 502 and numerous rifles, high number of failures, etc. Cheap for a reason.

Smells funny to me too.

.22 WMR works great and decently accurate. Had some .357 mag and that stuff was HOT. Had a few other centerline calibers and all worked fine. The .22 LR worked great in my 10/22 (everything does) but my Smith revolvers, not so much. My High Standard Double-nine devoured it.

Got my SW MP 15-22 last Tuesday. I ran about 200 rds of Federal champion bulk ammo thru it without any problems. Then ran 50 Rds of Armscor SPHV ammo. First round was a flyer, 2nd round was a dud. Then the rest ran without any problems. The Armscor ammo shot a tighter group compared with the Federal.

Understand that rimfire weapons are ammo dependent so you have to try different brands to find what it likes and with 22lr cost off can be widely different. Typically as cost of ammo goes up accuracy improves and even reliability can improve .

I have to say I do not look at a 22lr AR as a firearm I would own so find what works at a level of cost that you like . Our 22lr rifles stock and up graded are moa or less shooters with standard velocity ammo from eley force sk rm and some older federal 711b.

I always use CCI Standard Velocity. Replaced firing pin with aftermarket one. Extractor replaced. Keep the bolt rails and bolt head clean. No problems.
