Any way...one was a M&P 15-22. Never really paid much attention to them before. Anyway the gun comes with about 1/2 a brick of CCI 22's with it All it's been shot so not hurt. Are they reliable...good shooters? Have no idea what they cost and wondering if I want to get into a real ammo burner. What say y'all? he also has a camo 22A he wants to sell me too. but just bought one of them for 175. What's a fair price for the M&P 15-22?? any quirks or major problems??

I have put well over 20,000 rounds through my 15-22 with zero problems that could not be attributed to ammunition. I would recommend installing a Volquartsen extractor and have someone knowledgeable tune the ejector. (Or tune it yourself following instructions found on this forum.) Accuracy is acceptable, not match rifle accurate but adequate for it’s intended purpose, plinking. With CCI SV, it should hold 1” to 1 1/2” at 50 yards.
As far as value, they can be found new for $400-$450, used in the $300 range.
No major problems I am aware of. I went to the Volquartsen extractor on other’s recommendations. If you are planning on shooting it extensively, order a replacement firing pin. They seem to break at about 15,000 rounds. I proactively replace mine at about 10,000.

I don't own one but IIRC a couple of years ago they were banned from the Appleseed rimfire competitions due to issues with firing out of battery.
From what I gather S&W has addressed the issue, but if you get an older one it may not have had the problem corrected - maybe?

A group of shooters I hang with all shoot 15–22’s in a weekly match, probably 30 different rifles total and over 100,000 rounds fired. The only ones that have fired put of battery were new Performance Center models that have “match” chambers. After a break-in period, this issue went away. Appleseed has eased their objections, I think.

Wishing you well in reaching an equitable settlement that is fair to both buyer and seller.
